Stop Apple CarPlay starting up

Hi

I have a Mercedes A Class (W177) with MBUX. I have Apple CarPlay to use with Google Maps. When I plug my iPhone in to charge, after about 5 minutes the radio stops and Apple Music pops up. I then have to unplug the phone to get back to the radio.

Is there any way this can be avoided? Can you stop CarPlay popping up automatically?

Does Apple Music pop-up within the Apple CarPlay screen?

Or does it pop-up on its own?

If the latter, then it's not the Apple CarPlay that you are seeing, just the Music App.

Also, does it do that even when the iPhone is not connected to the car via USB cable? If so, then it's just Bluetooth streaming, not Apple CarPlay.

And, do you have more than one USB port in the car? If so then try connecting the iPhone to one of the other USB ports, they will be for charging only.

It pops up within the CarPlay screen and it never pops up when not connected via cable so I can rule out the Bluetooth connection.

The USB port between the front seats will probably be charging only although I’d prefer not to have the wire running from there to my windscreen cradle.

Delete the car under settings/general/CarPlay on your phone.
next time you connect it should ask if you want to connect automatically on connection - answer no.
Give that a try.

Thank you, I will try that.there wasn’t an option to stop the CarPlay music starting automatically. Has anyone got any other ideas? The music doesn’t start automatically if I have Google maps running.

Go to settings and uncheck the box that says auto start up for Carplay. You can then enable manually each time you want CarPlay

No, sorry in the MBUX settings. There is an option for carplay to start automatically or from user choice
