Came accross a chap today that had a flat tyre on the rear of his Audi. He couldn't get the wheel off the hub due to corrosion.
He was on the phone to the AA when I pulled up.

To save him the hour wait I showed him the trick. Kick the rim of the wheel a few times, this breaks the binding and the wheel falls off.

Hope this helps in someones moment of need.

if the above method is used make sure at least 1 bolt is left in the wheel to avoid it falling onto the floor and scratching the rim!.a lick of copper grease stops this happening well worth the effort, ask the dealer to do it on the next service they dont usually charge

Another trick is simply to loosen the bolts every few months and re-tighten them :)

As well as copper grease, torqueing the wheels on at the correct torque helps. A funny story- a couple of years ago, I got a puncture outside a branch of ATS. So went in and arranged fixing. In waiting area, there were lots of signs proclaiming it was a IS 9002 company. Tongue in cheek, I asked mgr what this meant, he said it means we do everything by the book here. I watched the fitter refitting the wheel -with airgun , no sign of torque wrench.
I pointed this out to mgr who called the fitter in. He asked him why he hadn't used a torque wrench. The fitter replied ' You bloody know, there hasn't been a torque wrench here for the last 5 years'. The mgr turns to me and says 'Sir, there is no charge for the repair' !!!!

The wheel won't suddenly drop off, you still need to wiggle it off after the seal is broken.

I like any fix where I get to kick something and it actually help :D

I actually attempted this fix when my MAS failed, when my kompressor stopped working and the gearbox broke, but it didn't help on any of these occassions :o

i had a wheel stick on ,had to get mobilo out to remove it,he used a large rubber mallet and hit the inside edge of the rim,he said over the last 5 years of him doing the job he had forgot to leave a bolt in 4 times and had to replace the damaged rim free of charge when it hits the floor.

and if it;s really stuck just loosen the wheels nuts slightly and drive forward till you here the crack
