In case it doesn't, how much did the new wheel bearings and ball joints cost?
The parts I got from Franey and the job was done at Flanaia1's garage. Both members on here - as you can clearly see in Flanaia1's case! Your best bet is to make contact yourself and see what they can do.
Franey could not have been more helpful with the parts, and John P at JAR Motorsport, although initially not too keen on the job it has to be said, came through magnificently and was very fair with the cost to fit.
I have to say though, that I took a risk with this job - on both elements. The ball joints are freely available, but John preferred to replace the whole track control arm which would have included new ball joints and bushes. I couldn't see the point in replacing the whole and just went with the joints. As it happens, the job went very smoothly.
Again with the bearings, I suspect only one needed doing, but the car was up on the lift and I took the decision to keep both sides symetrical. Also, the bearings come complete with the hub assembly, making it a dear do. Whereas a bearing kit (complete with new ABS sensor ring) is freely available and straightforward to fit. Again, I insisted against John's advice, but fortunately it all went through very well.
It probably sounds as if John is a bit of an awkward bugger, which is not the case. Under normal circumstances I would say his advice was spot on, but in this case I was not too concerned about the possibility of it taking longer to do, I wanted to see if it was possible to do it 'my' way rather than the conventional way, and fortunately I came out on top.
So my advice would be, if your bearings do need doing, is to weigh up the choice of replacing the whole hub (£175-odd for the part) against a bearing kit (£30-40) plus a bit more time to fit. A no-brainer in my opinion! And I have just proved that it is very simple (and much more cost-effective) to do it this way.
