How long does this lousy part last on MB cars?
Is it a long life part or a short lifespan part?

It's been approx 6 years since I bought a new MAF and had it installed in my car.
With my new MAF I have only covered approx 20.000KM.

I've only covered 40.000KM since I bought my car 9 years ago.

Should I expect this part to break soon?
Should I get one as a spare for future problems?

My buddy mechanic told me, sensor is sold separately from the plastic housing, this way it would be cheaper only buying the sensor.
Where can these sensors be purchased, cheapest webshop available?
Anyone know # partsnumber for sensor?

Does Pierburg sensors fit Bosch housing?

Just fitted a new maf to mine, the last one i bought (same car) was 6 yrs ago and it has covered approx 220km before needing replacement.

Yes same here, 6 years seems to be the lifespan, I bought one from fleabay as it was cheaper than MB but unfortunately it did not work properly so ended up paying more in the end for the genuine article.

mine isn't bad yet.
I might get a spare just in case.

however I found these cheap Bosch buggers on german fleabay for 149 juros.
that's kinda cheap.
they cost alot more from ECP w/o forum discont?
with 25% discont they came out a bit cheaper from ECP.

does anyone sell 'em cheaper?

I had various problems on my car due to this senor. I too fell for cheap alternatives from ebay which are a total waste of money. Didn't work for even a minute. I cleaned the original Bosch part with electrical circuit cleaner which helped for a short period of time but finally plumped for a bosch replacement from Eurocarparts using the code ALL20 for 20% off from click and reserve... This was before realising that MBClub25 gets you 25% off! This makes the part price palletable.
Regarding the insert/sensor only part, I did enquire about this also but apparently not all the types are supplied separately in this way so you may have to bite the bullet and get an entire new part.
On the plus side, fitting it should be a DIY job.
Good luck.

If you want one I can get one for £140. A Bosch one too.

17.5 years and 193,000 miles. Still on original MAF on my 1995 320 coupe.

that's strong man! :thumb:
but you have a real MB from the good years.
after the w124 was dropped everything seem to went to crapper hell for Daimler Divison
