What’s the best thing to lubricant the sunroof tracks? I’ve got a 2011 W212 pan roof.
Mine is really struggling to move. I tried WD40 as per YT vids but it’s no better.
Thanks

WD40 is not a lubricant, it is a penetrating compound and water dispersal agent (WD...)

I believe MB supply a lubricant for roof parts?

As above, I did find a picture from an old thread with what appears to be a genuine bottle of grease.

I say ring your local parts dept tomorrow morning.

I’m sure it’ll do the job

It’s all working perfectly thanks to that lube I bought. It’s specifically formulated for plastic and metal runners at a Fraction of the cost of the MB stuff!

Excellent news

lol! I just realised the unintended pun!
I'm after where's to apply on roof, as I'm not sure if its making any difference - my roof is a tad slow opening and makes a few clicking sounds when past open halfway
Thanks

Tip for you - when you call MB parts to price up - you had better be sitting down.

yep, bought a 20ml bottle of MB rubber dressing(?) for my roof seals - £39!!!!

I remember watching a video on utube some time ago specific about the MB sunroof. The clicking was caused by the plastic gearwheels slipping. This was caused by a rubber o-ring becoming brittle and breaking. Access to the mechanism was via the overhead light. The ring kept the wheels in place. A damaged o-ring allowed the wheels to drop slightly, ergo causing them to slip.
Hope this helps. I remember the video was very informative.

Thanks I'll have a google for the video.

had a quick search, and most problems are stuck roof or blind. Both mine open and closes ok, it's just the roof clicks when opening past halfway.

Bugger! Can't find it either, sorry.
