Sunroof DIY service

If it aint broke dont fix it!!
Had my indy look at my roof today, he felt where the clicking was coming from - front left side and gave that side a spray of lube and asked me to work it in a bit, which I started to do.
Sunroof opened twice and closed twice and now does not open!
I have tried resetting by closing the blind - (which opens and closes fine) and holding the switch for around 15 sec's.

Now I'm not at all blaming the chap as lubing should have the opposite effect.

I do have a warrantywise warranty that covers the sunroof electrics and the indie is pricing up what he feels is required - the motor.
I'll see how I get on, but I'm keen to try anything if it may help?

Thanks

Sounds like one or more of the cogs in the mechanisms are worn.

By applying the lube they are now failing to engage at all.

any tips on where to apply please?
Thanks

I just applied it to the tracks the plastic guides run along. Comes in a syringe so it’s easy to apply [emoji33]

just scanned with Icarsoft MBII and fault code 987223 - the button "roof system" sticks. No signal change. Voltage level is too low.
The live readings show the switches working when pushed/pulled and slided.

has anyone got any ideas as to why my sunroof is stuck closed.
My indie has now said he cannot look at it in the short term as he is moving premises.
I now have it booked in the dealer in mid june, but any suggestions in the meantime as I don't think mechanical failure is covered by my warranty

Hi All

Similar problem to the above post, have an 03 W211, has the pano roof, the inside blind works totally fine, and the main roof did open and close but i only took it half way open as it would open very slowly and seems like there was a lot of friction, and felt that if i did fully open it it might not close again! and it just doesn't budge whatsoever anymore.. I dont think its the motor as i know it has previously worked, i think this is a lubrication or failed rubbers or somethings.. but in its current state i cant access any of these to actually look at what may be the issue, is there anyw way i can open it? Someone above mentioned an AUX battery, is there a separate battery that powers this? May explain the slow opening and subsequent failure altogether
