As per the title does anyone know what the part number is for the short cranked aluminium arm that connects the anti-roll bar to the lower wishbones on the front of my 55plate cdi320?

Thanks in advance :D

Are you going to do them at home?

They are a bit tricky on the floor.

Yes and a big lever bar. Not the easiest thing to do on the floor.

Just out of interest. Why are you changing it?
I fitted new front springs after the nearside spring collapsed. Ian was a great help with his spring compressor. Now after a few weeks a knock has started on the nearside when going over bumps. I've been under the car and there is excessive play at the bottom of the drop arm. Not in the ball joint itself but between the shaft (which I assume is tapered) and the aluminium rod. I can't get any movement on the nut to tighten it so I assume it is at the end of it's travel. I'm deducing that the suspension collapse may have distorted the hole in the soft aluminium causing the play.:dk:

I doubt it to be the link. I maybe wrong but they don't often fail.

The ball joint in the arm that is attached to the link can be replaced. These often cause a knock too.

Thanks Ollie

very helpful and I appreciate it but I can see that the movement is actually in the pin rather than the ball. Almost as if the nut is loose and the rod has broken its bond with the tapered pin. Ever seen this?

Update

I jacked the car up and took the wheel off this afternoon and with my own big bar (which is obviously will not be as long or shiny as Ian's :p) I managed to get about an 1/8 of a turn on the turn but by hell it was stiff. Problem solved! :thumb:

Furhter Update

The rattle returned about 5k miles later so I nipped up the link arm a bit more and snapped the bolt on the balljoint:doh:!

Anyway I bought a new link arm and balljoint and spent a couple of happy hours replacing it yesterday as we were quiet at work. Problem solved again!

Right A211320 38 89

You will need a new nut too

A220 990 0151

Thats a tenner please! lol

Wow - I knew Olly's pricing was good, but a tenner for a pair of drop arms and fixing nuts sounds like a bargain to me!
