Suzzie, the CLK 500 so this happened

So small update,

I had the Engine mounts done, Along with a tie rod end for the MOT,

As per the Mercedes Benz TSB it was indeed the engine mounts causing the tapping!!

So a lovely quiet drive once again until...... wait for it.....

The dreaded clicking behind the dash, and to top it off the same clicking the c220 suffered from has stopped! doh.....

So Suzzie has a sticking stepper motor whether this gets better with use i have no idea, as the c220 has the same fault but since racking the miles the fixit fairies sorted it. Lets pray same happens with the cab fingers crossed.

Sue's CLK has the dash clicking occasionally and pretty sure it is the most inaccessible on which requires dismantling the entire dash!! It would be liveable if not for the fast that demisting is a nightmare and it is either roasting hot or freezing cold in the cab - I am assuming the two events are connected? Any suggestions more than welcome! Actually, I may start a separate thread as it may well help others in the future

Testing the water with a updated for sale thread

New Engine mounts now done so the Harmonic issue is now resolved engine purr's like it should drives a dream see the thread for the TSB,

Only let down now is the Stepper motor noise quite common and may resolve itself with use "my w203 has" heater etc works fine in all directions

Just had a NEW mot requiring a tie rod end which was done along with tracking and the exhaust bracket sorting.

Price drop to reflect stepper motor issue which shuts up after approx 30 seconds.

Yes I am going for the CBA to shave look 👀 lol 😆

Small update,

Found the source of the annoying clicking, it was the R/H lower actuator in the heater box, I simply cannot see what it works as air circulation is spot on.

I long screw driver disconnected the unit and clicking has stopped and blowers hot/cold and ac all still work as well as the direction 🧐 you’d never know.
Took her for local evening drive in smooth peace and quiet 🤫

I will get this replaced as an wen possibly if another solenoid acts up.

So if you do have a c209 or w203 which is clicking it’s worth having alook.

Bottom cover of the foot well of look up and you maybe lucky enough to find it’s the lower actuator unit.

Well small up date,

Had a couple couple of trips to London and started to notice some oily smells coming through the vents,

Turns out the upper sections of the rocker covers were leaking.

Took these off and had a clean up, small brass wire tooth brush and some hi temp sealant.

Reassembled, I’ve also just received the replacement breather to intake pipe as this fell apart upon removal.

Still love this car and tbh it’s been pretty faultless, mileage currently at 75k and is in light use seeing as I’ve acquired a s211 e270 which I may start a thread on.

Yep quite common on the M113 V8. Had to do mine (along with the cam cover gaskets) a couple of years back. Once done though should be good for at least another 10 or so years 👍

Nice work! You appear to be missing the cap from the pressure test point on the end of the fuel rail.

thank you job worth i will put a dust cap on there next time i clean it :)

Well she still had a small leak on the lower rocker cover mainly left bank but I’ve got both gaskets so made a start oh and decided to give the rocker covers a lick of paint.

I’m half way through as changed the lower arms and ball joints on the e270.

Good job the Schneider valve capwas missing a reminder to relief the fuel rail pressure before disconnection ;)

And left hand bank think refitting of the left is going to be more tricky.
