Bad news Talktalk Server been down since Thursday, its now 22.10pm on Saturday and no sign of it coming back yet.:fail
What a joke this TalkTalk Company is, with no consideration for their customers, will be cancelling my contract with these Jokers.:wallbash:

My ISP was down around midnight on Thursday, I couldn't get the internet until around midday Friday, so is there some other problem on the infrastructure I wonder.

Serves you right for choosing Talk *a*k  world's second crappiest ISP behind sky

Been there, got the T-Shirt

Anyone in the Kensington / Knightsbridge area?

I hear there is a major outage in some parts due to attempted wire theft causing damage to both copper and fibre cables.

Seems to affect some Hyperoptic Fibre customers and other providers.

I think all the networks have been struggling after imposing blockages to torrent sites by a new court ruling. It seems to be affecting lots of servers as the traffic is routed here there and everywhere, so if they block an IP address for one thing, it can suddenly affect lots of other services, as they seem to have no idea where stuff is really routed these days.
Mine was bad, but just about still worked for last couple of days. Has improved today, and already found a workaround to access my favourite torrent site, using vpns, so has not worked for them anyway, and others will do the same. If they try and block that sort of thing, then banking services etc will also be screwed, it would seem.
All providers are being affected, to some degree by these issues. It was in the news.

:D Nobody wants or needs sympathy - just change your ISP to a decent provider who cares about customers.

Well who do you use then, there all rip off b***ards, slowing down line speeds to try and get you to upgrade to fibre.

My speed drops off, phone them to complain and they magically they can up the speed again, i am paying for 30mbs and getting less than 10 most days, has been as low as 1.1mbs.

I use plusnet fibre and I get around 80Mbps. Yes every ISP has problems from time to time, but if you are buying the cheapest, you will get duff service and duff support. Plusnet are owned by BT so they can get things fixed faster IMHO, but still have good customer service so far,,

Zen is the best ISP imho.

I went with BT to get free BT Sport, and I get 78meg down and 19meg up on fibre, but it slows down at peak times and often gets **** all.

I still have regular dsl with Zen and that is perfect, my router has been up for 372 days, something I can only dream of with BT.

Best to choose a small isp imho.

Blazer. I assume it's email you're having a problem with rather than Internet access per se and can't access your mail on a client (phone, desktop, whatever). Try going to talktalk.co.ul/mail and entering your credentials there. You should be able to access your mail on the web client.

Speed testers are a load of b***ocks to some degree. All ISPs automatically route them via fastest connection, so they appear to provide what you pay for. Been going on for years. I saw a dedicated server for this when working on one of NTL's new data centres. (now Virgin).
Only way to check real download speeds is to download a large file, and time/calculate it....ie 100 gig file, and see how long it takes.

My ISP never been down in over 10 years :-)

I was with A Oh heLL for many years. They were pretty awful and the speeds were abysmal.

They then became Chat Chat. It then became the seventh rather than the sixth circle of hell. Changed to BT, cheaper, faster and it actually works.

One or two teething problems, but overall very good :thumb:

BT's mail has been down intermittently now for two weeks. A complaint form to their website elicited a phone call from them yesterday and they admitted they are having problems with some sort of upgrade away from Yahoo and outages could last till end Dec.

While I'm on does anyone know if a BT4 hub will work with Infinity? When I changed over (to Infinity) they insisted I needed a BT5 but it's wifi range is much reduced to what the 4 was.

The whole TalkTalk site had fallen over and attempts on Thursday to find out why my a/c had gone up by 30% despite fewer calls could not be handled as even the staff could not access their own internal network. And a promised call back didn't happen either.
I am about to migrate to plusnet - looks cheaper and the Which? report rated them second.

That's a real surprise. At work I have 3 landlines, one has BT bb and one has Plusnet bb and they couldn't be more different for customer service.

BT are just as expected, thoroughly incompetent call centre staff, shunting me between departments in what seems like a giant game of "tag", while Plusnet have been clear, helpful, one call fixes all.

I do hope BT never "improve" Plusnet to BT levels of service...

Don't use BT mail. Never liked the tie up with Yahoo and sure enough they seem to be having tech probs in disengaging themselves. Won't be using BT mail until they've sorted it.

I use a BT Dual-Band Wi-Fi Extender 600 which works well.
