Talktalk server down again

While I'm on does anyone know if a BT4 hub will work with Infinity? When I changed over (to Infinity) they insisted I needed a BT5 but it's wifi range is much reduced to what the 4 was.[/QUOTE said:
Sorry Derek - meant to answer this: Infinity is intended to be fibre optic based and the BT5 router is designed to work with that. If the WiFi range is poor then have a moan about it. Given that most domestic WiFi networks run at about 54mbps, you won't see the difference until your broadband speed catches up with this!

I've been using PlusNet for a fair few years now and they have been very good overall.

I found out BT owned them a year or so ago and was astounded.

As said - hopefully BT are using them as an exemplary model of customer service and don't try to 'fix' anything!

talktalk

Talktalk are just no good at all , read one emil today and it lost its connection so now i am without my email or home page .All other sites are working great.

Any cable router will work with BT Infinity. This includes BT Hub 3, 4, and 5 (and other makes) as long as the router has an RJ45 Ethernet port on the WAN side (either in addition to or instead of the RJ11 phone socket for ADSL).

I have just closed my a/c with TalkTalk's Loyalty Department. What a joke. They don't know how it happened and were not prepared to discuss it, but somebody cancelled one of the 'Boosts' I had last Friday. It is like dealing with an amoeba on speed - and I am glad to be rid of them. Lets hope PlusNet are as good as everyone says they are!

You are well rid of Talk Talk.. have you signed up with plusnet yet, if not I can give you a referral code. Don't forget once signed up you can refer others in future and get you bill reduced every month.

That's good to know, a bit like GiffGaff.

How much do +net reduce the bills by? Is it a fixed amount or a %

Thanks.

I'm waiting for the MAC from TalkTalk - and the savings will come from two sources: about a tenner a month and also not having to deal with TalkTalk.

I think all the networks have been struggling after imposing blockages to torrent sites by a new court ruling. It seems to be affecting lots of servers as the traffic is routed here there and everywhere, so if they block an IP address for one thing, it can suddenly affect lots of other services, as they seem to have no idea where stuff is really routed these days.
Mine was bad, but just about still worked for last couple of days. Has improved today, and already found a workaround to access my favourite torrent site, using vpns, so has not worked for them anyway, and others will do the same. If they try and block that sort of thing, then banking services etc will also be screwed, it would seem.
All providers are being affected, to some degree by these issues. It was in the news.

Neil

Yep, attempts at torrent site blocking will fail, as anyone can simply download the browser from torproject.org - problem sorted lol :D
