Telematics update?

I spoke to MB Swindon about a map and possibly DAB update for my 2015 CLS350 Shooting Brake. They told me it is also due a 'Telematics' Update?
Can anyone tell me what this entails? is it to do with DAB radio?

Telematics update is a software update to the device itself, as opposed to maps update which update only the maps data.

Telematics update typically contain either bug fixes or new features, or both.

But without knowing what version you have now and what version they intend to update it to, it is difficult to say what advantages the new telematics software may have.

To add, its probably because they want to fix the known DAB issues. In any event its free and you should pop along and ask them to do the update which will do all/any of the following if you have them fitted;

Audio/Comand
HK/Burmester amp
DAB
Media interface
TV tuner

If you have comand then you will have three years of free map updates so ask them to load the latest maps whilst they are at it!

Even tho my car has had two services I am not sure it has been updated at all (V2.0) My three years are up next February so I will be checking to see if new maps are available for my January service.
Still aren't sure what map version my comand online supposed to have, just know it is seriously out of date with some of the new roads I use.
My car is a Premium so it doesn't have the HK that the Plus has.
I am still learning to use the radio, not as intuitive as I hoped so I hope an update will help.
