Car
CLS 55 AMG
I've owned my CLS 55 AMG a few months now and i absolutely love it but there was one thing missing for me and that was that i found the exhaust note a tad too quiet.

Yesterday i had my car booked in with Eurocharge.
I thought i was only going to make small changes to the exhaust but for the price of what else i could get i just thought why not :D

Work carried out was:

Eurocharge sc pulley
Remap
Primary Decat & Centre box delete

I also needed to replace my ic pump as it was completely dead which is quite common on these cars.

Well what can i say after all the modifications.....
Its INCREDIBLE!!
The power is shockingly good and the exhaust note is amazing.
You can really hear that V8 rawness from it.
The torque you get hit with at 3k rpm too nice.
Still quiet when pulling up on a quiet road so it doesn't disturb the neighbours but from when you put your foot down all hell breaks loose.
I also get no drone and is still quiet holding a smooth speed of 80mph on the motorway.
The exhaust note is an acquired taste but for me it's now perfect.

I would like to thank Paul & Andy for everything, great work and great customer service.
Sorry if i finished all the chocolate biscuits whilst i was waiting ;)

Dyno run before modifications - 460bhp - 549ft/lb

Dyno Run After Modifications & Remap - 553bhp - 660ft/lb :D:D

Very pleased indeed.
The graphs are one thing but how it's driving now is most pleasing :D

Do you find that you get better low down torque without the gearbox changing down all the time? Planning on getting my E63 6.2 done but already have 525 bhp as standard so unsure if the gains in the remap warrant the cost

May I ask rough cost of these mods?

I paid £1200 all in for the primary decat and centre box delete, ramap and Sc Pulley.
There was a deal on so i just took advantage of it. Price may be different to somebody else depending on car or if a deal is on.

Yep the low down torque is much more harder and gear change seems to be more on point without any delay.
As for getting your car done I would speak to paul at eurocharge as he will be able to tell you what gain you will achieve vs the money you will spend.
He was able to tell me exactly how much bhp and torque i would get and he was more or less 98% correct.

Nice gains and nice looking car:thumb:

Are you sure it's a primary decat rather than secondaries? Primary decat would explain the good gains, but not normally done without headers and it's typically secondaries that are removed when also removing the central resonator.

Its 100% primary cat delete. Paul explained all options to me regarding secondary cat delete, xpipe, centre box delete etc.
For what I wanted and sound primary cat and centre box delete was the best option.
The secondary cats are still in place to still give the balance mix for the exhaust.
You can still remove the primary cats without the installation of headers.
People will probably ask if it will still pass mot and will the car throw a code.
According to paul it will pass mot with the secondary cats still in place and no code will come up as the remap prevents that from happening. Just thought id throw that info in there as they were questions i also asked .

Sounds like a good alternative to what most people simply opt for. I'm guessing therefore you have straight pipes in place of the resonator and you have retained the balancer pipe just in front of the secondaries therefore eliminating the need for an x-pipe. Sounds like a good system as I would imagine it would probably retain a little more back pressure than the usual x-pipe and secondary cat delete option:thumb:

All understood that primary cats can be removed without header work, it's just most headers mean primaries have to be removed, unless they are shorties like mine.

Exacly that...
I saw alot of people doing the xpipe thing and i felt there was no need. Plus to do the xpipe may have cost more to do as there is alot more involved.
Straight pipes in place over the resonator and back pressure is still strong.
I was going to just do the primary cats but to achieve that raw amg sound the option to cut out the centre box and replace with straight pipes made sense.
Now ive done it im very happy I had.
Ill try and get a cold start video up here to show how it sounds but to me its perfect. To others who knows. I would say the sound when i put my foot down has gone up by 60%.

Looks like great value, Im not fan of silver but must say the CLS wears that colour really well.

I felt the same when i was in the market for this. My preference was black but when I saw this and the spec and milage it has i just snapped it up. Silver on the cls does look great and looks alot better in the flesh.... not being biased of course ;)

Plus i used to own a black Evo 8 which drove me nut to keep clean.
I did own it for 6 years so i think owning a black car for that prompted me for a change.

I was always against ever having a silver car, but after looking a several tired examples, I couldn't let this one go despite it being silver.
I have now grown to really appreciate the colour and although I love black, its such a pain to keep looking nice it spoils the enjoyment for me forever washing it.
