The 2020 CL215 Owners Register

It is an independent specialist MB garage, they are right next door to the main dealer and do a lot of the older car work from the dealership. I've used him for about 20 years. I read through the list with him and he said he'll look at what he can but is extremely busy at present. He also said "live with pushing the remote key to lock the car I don't want to pay to have the handles fixed!". Let's see how it gets on, let you all know later today......
That is much better Jason & with the long established background that you have with him will certainly be an advantage .

The Mercedes Enthusiast magazine portrayed a feature on the CL215 in their December/January 2022 edition.
They have little respect for our cars.

I didn't think the review read too badly, but certainly they could have been a little more generous in their comments....

Well its back from the annual MOT; it flew through the emissions test but needed headlamps adjusting to pass the test.

Advisories were:

both rear tyres near to legal tread depth limit on edge
both rear tyres perished
rear brake discs worn but not seriously weakened
OSF wheel has had welding repair

To be honest I'm disappointed with the backside covering on MOT certificates these days: wheel has had welding repair - so what? No one ever noticed it or reported on it before. Is it safe? Yes, so why even mention it?

Brake discs worn but not seriously weakened - so what? do they need changing or not? No, so why even mention it?

The advisories make it look like the vehicle isn't being maintained and I find that a little annoying.

The bottom arm replacement was a nightmare and required the drilling out, welding up, drilling and retapping of one of the grub screws, adding hours to the job and costing £648.00 to complete. So with the two new front tyres this MOT cost about £1,000.00 :(.

On the positive side I took the long way home from the garage on long winding roads and fell in love with it all over again!

Yes, advisories can be painful rather than helpful especially if poorly worded.
Pre MOT inspections with rectification can minimise them. I have this done on my car together with examination of the common problems we face on the CL.

Fair point, I perhaps should have had a pre-mot and replaced the rear tyres too. I still maintain that the wheel and brakes are fine though.

Sorry to sound dim, but where can I access the Snippets information?

Yes that is not very clear ! It refers to the pages on our Register here. If you look at the top of this page that we are on

You will see its page11. I will amend it on the next update.😁

Lol, didn't think that through did I? I thought it was referring to a pinned thread somewhere maybe. Thanks, I get it now!
It was quite understandable, if you were perplexed so will other new members be similarly affected.
Thank you for highlighting it.

CL215 owners in USA suffer from cracks on front bumpers. The cracks are generally emanating from mounting bolt
positions. Have any members suffered at all ?

No such problems to date on mine but plenty of time for this to occur, I will have a good look on its next clean as worth heading off if a future issue.

I know this happens on the front wings, fenders as they say...but have never heard mention if it on any of the US forums regarding bumpers.

Hello Machtan,
Very pleased to welcome you to the register & to gain another cl600 to our numbers. 35k is a pleasingly low mileage
& the car should serve you well.
I would urge you to get the ABC fluid & filter changed at your earliest convenience, assuming that you have no detailed
Information on that area. If you read up on our SNIPPETS here on the register pages you will learn why that recommendation is made.
Simon
You may have seen the posting by Swotty he has a similar car to you .

Appreciate that you have scoured & posted in the US forums for many years
Renault12ts.
It was a limited thread started with several claiming being affected. Knowing that bumpers are at risk from impact I was just curious.

It was badly put by me .
