The 2020 CL215 Owners Register

I have a company car during the week and the CL and SLK are for weekends. I try to use the CL every week to warm it through and charge the battery a bit. I'd love to use the CL as a daily driver but not really practical for work.

Recommended tyres for the CL215
My car came with a set of tyres that are both noisy & wear quickly. I am looking for better ones.

It would help us if we had ready access to a list of tyres that suit the CL.
Therefore would you members please let me know which tyres you have found
to be very good/outstanding & I will list them on a Snippet for ready access.

m2287 with his prodigious 260k mileage must have worn through a few sets !

Well so far that has met with a resounding disinterest !

I always used Michilin Pilot Sport 4

I changed to Goodyer Eagle F1 asymmetric 3 years ago and they are excellent. Reports suggest their latest ones (No.6 - mine are 2s) are even better.

I needed a pair in a hurry & changed to those & immediately noticed a significant
reduction in noise. Ostensibly the CL is a silent car so will get another pair when
existing Avon ZV7` s are finished.

Sorry, I haven't logged in for a while! Check out the link above, this is where my pump came from. The pump seems fine so far, very pleased. Just be aware that you will be hit for import duty, I paid roughly £480 for the pump but £112 in additional duty when it arrived.

There is a lot of technical data available on the site too. Hope you find this useful :)

I just had a pair of Michelin Pilot Sport 5 put on the front of mine this week as it is MOT day on Wednesday. Dry grip seems excellent, not seen any rain yet. £180.00 each but Michelin are doing a Spring promotion at the moment, buy 2 x 19" tyres and get £40.00 credited back to your account. I'll let you know how they perform when the rain returns!

Yes that is certainly useful, the import duty is always discouraging but as time moves on & CL numbers steadily drop away quality spares become increasingly important & desirable.

It's that time of year again... MOT tomorrow.

I've changed the two front tyres so that's one less potential issue.

Whilst it is in though I've also left a list for the garage to investigate. Wonder what this little lot is going to cost to fix??

I forgot to mention it is having new lower suspension arms prior to the MOT too as the bottom ball joints are worn.

Well,if they fix that list I feel sure it will at least be four noughts ! The only cheerful point that I can offer is with the electronics on these cars that curing one fault often simultaneously rectifies others.
Do you use an Independent mercedes shop ? If there is a good one locally I would compare quotes !

Almonddine is my favourite MB Colour 👍 :) :ttiuwp
Gulp ! I really missed this, as you started the original CL register here with an impressive list of cars,it is a total pleasure to have you here again. Inciden!tally looking above have I missed a picture of your almonddine car ? A little history would be very interesting too !

Thanks, were they quiet, good in the wet etc?
Yes excelent in the wet,dry braking. No i never had an Almadine CL , it was just a favourite MB colour of mine :)

It is an independent specialist MB garage, they are right next door to the main dealer and do a lot of the older car work from the dealership. I've used him for about 20 years. I read through the list with him and he said he'll look at what he can but is extremely busy at present. He also said "live with pushing the remote key to lock the car I don't want to pay to have the handles fixed!". Let's see how it gets on, let you all know later today......
