The Difference Between A C43 And A C36 AMG

what's the difference in ride quality - I've heard it said the C36 is 'sprung' very hard.

I can't give a fair comparison against the '43 until I've put some 17's back on, but the '36 does feel a bit lighter which I would assume is down to having the 18's on the 43.

I'll definately report back once I've swapped back.

They don't come like that from factory, it's sticking out because of the De-cat.

Even on the C55's I’ve seen with De-cats the 4-pipes are sticking out way too much compared to mine which are nicely tucked as I haven’t played around with the exhaust system.

I see a C43 estate now and again near me and that exhaust looks the same as mine, compared to the 36 it does stick out a fair bit.

I can only see maybe a couple of inch sticking out on the '36, there's probably double that on every '43 I've ever seen.

Is there anything newer thatgoes down the road like a W123? How does the Discovery feel in comparison?

Now you mention it, quite similar, both being a little floaty.

The only car I could say that drives like it would be a W140 S-Class but a tad stiffer.

Are you thinking of treating yourself to one pal?

I know the C36 tips are way back and I like that, the C43 is slightly out but when they get De-cated the come forward even more..

same with the C55AMG too, not sure if you can tell from this picture a standard C55 & a De-cate, if you zoom in you will be able to tell the difference, it's clear when you see it close up.

I agree, it looks after market when the tips come forward too much.

I meant to post this picture of them both at the beginning, but forgot...

Hi after looking long (very long) for a W202 AMG I went for the late model C36 AMG (1997 spec) car with the 5 speed box

Still a quick car and sound great when the revs get over 5000rpm

Lots of poor C36/C43 about (worn out white seats/steering wheels and damaged alloy,s on rust starting on front wings/sills)

But if you keep an eye out still a few mint cars about which should start to go up in value

PS why are photo,s now small on the site ?

I'm after a C36 but can't seem to find a good one

I am sure you can find one

I was looking for the right car for 15 months

I used to have one, but it's newer ones (apart from a facelift A-Class) that I haven't driven. Curious as to how the more modern machinery compares. Seems that all saloons/hatches/etc ride stiffly nowadays and that anyone seeking the softer ride has to go 4WD to get it - but they are inevitably compromised on account of their height.
The day of the smooth riding saloon has passed it would seem.

Been out for an hour in each car this morning, the C43 first and then the C36.

I'm sure there's a sub-conscience reason for it, but the '36 seems to make me drive sedately, whereas the '43 is a bit louder and 'rampant' because of the de-cat.

I'll certainly miss the C36 when it's gone, I've put a lot of hard work into that car, but onwards and upwards...

He sold it too a guy in Killarney co Kerry Ireland

But I haven't be able to find it

The guy that bought it off me was a dreamer
He has bought four big engines cars since and sells them all after a week or two saying he has done all this work too them him self and saying they have way more bhp then they have and so on

I should have never sold it I should have stored it like others I have
A well live and learn

I'm away in Norway working at moment I might sort a stop over in England and buy one drive her home

You have me thinking now ??????

Tell me now what 4 big engined cars have i bought???

as far as i can recall ive only had 1 big engined car since the 36 and that was an xjr which i had to sell due to genuine non use that would incur due to me travelling for employment ...very interested what other 3 are you on about????

and by the way, looking back on it now, that c36 u sold me was on its last legs, i had to throw in a good few hundered a week after you sold it to me to even make it start :fail...that guy who i sold it to(and i still talked to a good bit after the sale) has rebuilt the entire bottom end and had to replace the camshafts due to oil starvation..you told me it was putting out about 290bhp,be lucky if it was putting out 250bhp and thats being totally honest... even my old stock 1984cc T5 would give it a run for its money in stock form and im not even talking about after it was tuned(would easily burn a c43 amg) ..i was very young and inexperienced and put my heart before my head but i have learned A LOT since buying that c36....although i have went on the word of the guy who sold me the 230k,and i know i shouldnt have gone on his word, i have told all the bad things about every car i have ever sold, and dont say i didnt...

its my own business if i want to sell my cars or not,im not stuck for money and had various GENUINE reasons for selling mine etc...im sure most people on here are enthusiasts like you or me who are in a similar boat...

i never had any animosity towards you and i thought you were a nice guy but this is sad and childish mr horgan..you know where i live and you are more than welcome to inspect ANY car i have or will sell...
