The E-Class Covelline Blue Thread

There's been a lot of mystique around what Covelline Blue looks like in the metal. A couple of useful pictures have been posted by flat6buster on another thread. I thought we should have a thread for pictures of this colour to help the undecided out there.

Please post pictures of your own car in this colour, or any you happen upon in your travels. All input gratefully received.

Please note that the SLR Covelline blue is NOT the same as the latest E-Class one - please keep posts to the E-Class version.

My view of the colour is that it's great - a lovely slate blue mostly, but occasionally slate grey and even a bit purple! A little surprising certainly, but always interesting!

Note that the typical computer monitor can only display around 35% of the colour gamut visible to the human eye, and it cannot reproduce the sparkle of metallics.

There's no replacement for direct viewing, unfortunately.

I agree with your point in principle, but I know I would have found it useful to see some (even imperfect) pictures before committing.

There aren't many vehicles of this colour around yet - so it still might be of benefit to some.

Beware that the darker metallic blue that someone has posted isn't Coveline, nor is the SLS that you might find someone has posted a shed load of detailing photos on line for if you Google the colour.

If you want to get a reasonable impression of what it looks like, just go on the German MB site and go through the configurator. You'll end up with loads of photos and even a short video. I posted some of the photos in the other thread. If you PM me an e-mail address I'll send you the MB video.

Assuming it gets delivered on time, I'll be posting photos of my own E350 Estate when it arrives mid-September, they'll be on the other thread as well.

p.s. Even with lots of ringing around I couldn't find a vehicle in this colour to look at available at any dealer within a 90 minute drive of my home. The colour swatches in the brochure are rubbish, I went in five dealers to look at paint samples in the showroom (not one of them had one) so in the end the decision was made based on an A5 sized printed swatch at a dealer. It was a bit of a risk, so we'll see how it turns out.

Whilst the blue is nowhere what I thought it would be (google is NOT your friend in this), I am happy with it, unusual and different depending on weather. However I am less pleased with the wheels which have an audi type of anthracite colour which means the car never looks clean, even when it is!
