The Koreans Are Coming

It is annoying when dealers can not be bothered to make the effort and provide good customer care.

I'm having an issue with VW at the moment and it's become apparent that they expect the dealer to "own" the problem. So if the dealer decides the answer is "no" then you're stuffed.

Quoting your first post

The car can be serviced at any VAT-Registered garage as long as original Kia parts are used - and this is the case for the entire seven years, i.e. both the standard warranty (which is common across manufacturers anyway) and the extended warranty (where other manufacturers usually insist on dealer-only servicing as a warranty condition).
I am slightly surprised you went back to the same main dealer?

I assumed they would fix the key under warranty.... which was the main reason for having the car serviced at a delear again (and I am aware I could have just driven up there for the key).

Well that didn't work out very well....

Yes, but as said I had good results in the past by going straight to the manufacturer. The Delears just can't be bothered. Where there is a will, there is a way...

Fair enough lets hope you get a bit more success with the UK importer if you chose to pursue it..

Me too, but what VW do (and I've seen lots of comments about MB doing this too) is to sound helpful but to steer you back to the dealer all the time.

Well I bought this for Fiver off eBay:

Kia Sportage Replacement for 2/3 button remote key FOB shell/case | eBay

Surprisingly an original Kia key fob shell turned up. I removed from it the bits I needed to mend my broken key, which (after minor modification) is now fully functioning and working again. All's well that ends well.

Well, almost. Still poor show on the dealer's side who refused to even raise this with Kia UK, when I pointed out that reading on the Internet it seems to be a common problem and that Kia were indeed replacing broken keys under warranty.
