The New R2!

Hi Greg
The new car looks great !:D The Grill, Wheels, Suspension all really suit the car, which looks really classy !
I'd definitely keep the mud flaps, with a black car you can go out on a damp/wet road and put the car back in the garage clean but without mud flaps, you would have to clean it again to get back to your standard ;)
The black mud flaps blend in well with the black body work also.
As for the garage walls, I have wooden floor underlay attached with wall paper paste and pipe insulation on the corners of the posts attached with hot glue. If your sponge is doin it's job though, leave it be, unless you want to do a garage make over! I painted my walls white & floor grey, makes the garage look a lot bigger ! I'll email some pics when I'm back of hol :thumb:

Cheers Duncan! Thanks for your help in recent weeks :) The car is lovely, it is a real Q car.
The performance is amazing and I'll have to try and record the engine/exhaust note on full throttle :) the interior is so comfortable and now it's got its comand, dvd changer, hard drive, flashdrive, linguatronic etc. it has plenty of toys:) I've ordered black Centre caps rather than the blue ones and little bits and pieces will follow. The exterior is staying just as it is now!
I still have yet to see another C350 Elegance either on the road or even on a UK forum.

Great choice of car, good to see someone going for a petrol engine :)

I think it's a great engine in the C Class, that's also why I'm still really happy with our W203...

Thanks AA, I'm very pleased with it:bannana: your car it a special w203 and with the 3.2 engine must be pretty quick:)

Cheers Graham! It doesn't half go and it is lovely inside! Amazingly it only cost 40 quid more to insure than my c180k!

Hi Greg,

What a great choice of car and engine, quite a difference from the 180 ? Richard and Mark do a great job.

The one thing i can guarantee is that it must be one of the safest cars on the road.

I didn't realise they where so rare.

I don't know if you remember when we where having trouble with the C43 headlining, quiet a while ago now and MB Brentford loaned Anna a car, that was a C350 and she had a head-on collision at 50 ish which wrote the car off. It saved her life, if she had been in the C43 she would not have survived. I think Howard posted a photo of what was left of the car.

I was at Brentford the next day when it arrived on a low loader, the men from the body-shop came out to inspect the car as they had never seen one that had been written off. What was most impressive where the knee airbags, Ann had very slight bruising to her legs.

Enjoy.

The thread is still there but the photo(s) don't appear any more: http://www.mbclub.co.uk/forums/driving-incidents-roadrage/77740-brentfords-c350-written-off-picture.html

Thanks Peter! I hadn't remembered that Anna's crash had been in a C350. Gulp-glad she was OK.

On a different note has anyone got two spare yellow screw covers for number plate screws. I bought a kit online and I'm two short.

It's not bad ;) & with the AMG exhaust it can sound great too when you open it up :D

That's a lovely car!! Very subtle - I love Q cars!

By the way, do you know what years the 350 V6 is free of issues? The 350 petrol engine (in an E coupe) is another choice for my next car if I decide against diesel.. :)

"Applicable Models (Not Applicable to Model 164.156, 204 or 216.386): Equipped with M272 Engine Up to Serial No. 2729..30 468993 or M273 Engine Up to Serial No. 2739..30 088611.
The material for the balance shaft sprocket and the timing chain guide wheel (idler) was modified on engines past the serial numbers listed above. "

This is taken from the MB bulletin. I guess it means 468993 and above are OK. Glad you like the car-it's lovely :)

Ah, so if "207" isn't mentioned, I assume it's ok. That's good! :)

I had a black 204 C200 Elegance as a courtesy car once and really liked it - I can only imagine what a 350 V6 must feel like! :)

Are you any where near Kent?

Not at the moment. :D But in the UK I'm in the Chilterns near Dunstable...

Oh well if you are ever down this way! I still have yet to find anyone with a C350 Elegance -anyone?
