The Next AMG Project Begins...

Due to the school holidays, I'm working from home this week, so I thought I'd take the time to post about my latest AMG project and try and update the thread as I get the chance.

It got delivered yesterday and so far I can see that it needs;

Full respray and *rustproofing*,
Nearside front and rear speaker covers,
Four new tyres,
Front discs and pads,
There is no sound coming from the COMAND system, but it is showing the Nav and radio screen etc,
The tailgate wont open (got a tip from GizzE which I'll report back on),
New front grill,
New bonnet star,
V6 Kompressor badges for the sides and a C32 AMG badge for the back,
New number plates.

In addition to those bits, I'll be giving the car a full engine service including plugs etc, changing the gearbox oil, carrying out a glycol test and anything else I can think of.

In time, I intend to fit a Quaife LSD, upgrade the power a little bit to over the magic 400BHP mark and a de-cat maybe in order.

"working from home" ...... ;) Whatever!!

Want me to organise a couple of Saltire badged number plates?, that'll make it quicker I bet.

If you don't mind me asking Lee, how much did you pay for it , what's the mileage and did you buy it as just a project car? :D

Can I see rust on the bottom of the rear passenger door, front wing and bootlid?

Worse than a W202 for rust

New 'euro' style plates with dealer surrounds will bring that upto date :thumb: none of that Welsh flag business ;)

Yeah, she's got a bit of scabbing but nothing compared to the first W202 I had, that had rust in places that seemed impossible.

Just getting a set of Conti's put on as we speak and then I'll be getting new plates.

Looks like abit of a shed mate! I'm sure you'll transform this beast, look forward to following this

Looks like a proper project.

If I can help with the Quaife or supercharger pulley just shout. I get both for a good price.

That looks to have been properly abused. Glad you are going to restore it to former glory.

Looks like there's plenty to be getting on with there!

I'm guessing it was very cheap as surely by the time just the obvious work is done it will have cost ££££ already! That's without the typical tidying up jobs?

What's the interior like - all working ok? (heated seats often pack up iirc, gear shifters go tatty on '32s etc)

I guess you're looking to keep it if you're winding the boost up and fitting an LSD?

Good luck with it all :)

Good luck with the project. How does it compare performance wise to the C36 and C43?

And dont forget to pull off the black plastic trims at the bottom of the doors and check for rust ;)

Yes pal, it's a project car; I like to start with a blank canvas...:thumb:

Pah...blank canvas... wait until you see my ground up from bare chassis build project!

Good luck with it Lee! (It'll be finished long before mine - probably before mine is started!)

Thanks Will, I've got a budget of £2k (without mods) and I envisage that I'll be under that budget.

Please get the wheels done in silver lee.

It'll be getting done with the bodywork which will be the very last job.
