The Next AMG Project Begins...

No - I think my natural replacement might be the 5.5TT E63 should it ever come to fluition.

Right now given the value of my car I am less and less inclined to sell it.

It's a great machine.

Average speed a bit low! Looks like it's seen some traffic. Should come up a bit more than that once it can stretch its legs a bit. That must have polished that tank off quite quickly. I usually get a comfy 240+ to about 1/8 of a tank left. Don't like to go too dry...

After much faffing and head scratching, I've decided to fully update the cars audio system.

This will consist of removing the Comand head unit, TV tuner, CD changer and Bose amp and replacing it with a far superior and up-to-date Pioneer system with satellite navigation, Bluetooth capability, SD card etc etc The Bose speakers will be staying.

Trying to bring forward the respray to the back end of this month.

IIRC the bose speakers are a strange impedance. I was looking at getting something more meaty to put into the bass box, but couldn't find anything, or find anyone who had managed mods on the system at all. I'll be interested to see what you can manage!
Out of interest, what does the current TV tuner say now that the analogue signal has been switched off? Do you get anything?

I'm having to run all new speaker cable from the new head unit to the speakers.

To be honest, I should have done all this from the start, but I thought I'd persevere because I like to be OEM as much as possible.

TV tuner goes fuzzy then just a blank screen.

lol! Though as much! I won't hang on for one on eBay then!
All the best fella,

Cheers pal. I'll be selling everything I take out as spares or repairs because I have lost where I am with it all! Having said that, the CD changer works. I think!

New ignition coil pack fitted today.

Besides the respray there's only a couple of little niggles; after fitting the new steering rack, the ESP warning has come on the dash (the ESP still works though) and won't go off and there's the proverbial slight rattle on the tailgate.

Pack something under the number plate holder. It eliminated the rattle on mine, after I'd been playing with hinges, lock strikers etc etc.
Not being silly, have you gone lock-to lock with the ignition on yet? Can't see how changing the rack lighting the ESP can't be rack related, and calibration would seem the most obvious. . .?

I'm going to get it in for 4 wheel laser alignment next week, there's a really good specialist only a couple of mile away from me.

The elastic band went in for the paintwork yesterday, I'm looking forward to the results!

If you take the trim off on the load area, near where the loop is that keeps the lock..well locked, you can move that loop slightly so the boot lid is tight when closed.

Does that make sense?

The metal bit on the pic above, pull that up and off and then move the booth catch.

I've got a spare minute so I thought I'd give a rundown on the parts bought and the work that's been done to my C32, it certainly has gone way over budget and I've not even finished yet...

List of parts and work;

New steering rack,
Four brand new MO Continental Sport Contact 5 tyres,
Front grille and bonnet star,
Nearside & offside lower arms and ball joints,
Brand new OEM front inner arch liners,
Rust removed and full respray from the roof down,
Big service using all genuine Mercedes parts which includes; Shell Helix oil, oil filter, fuel filter, pollen filter, two air filters, front and rear Mercedes windscreen wipers,
Gearbox oil change,
OEM new ignition coils pack,
Both nearside speaker grille covers
Removal of the entire entertainment system (COMAND, Bose amp & sub, CD changer, TV tuner, phone)

Jobs left to do:
Purchase and fit new upgraded/updated head-unit (probably a Pioneer/Alpine set-up)
Get to the bottom of a very intermittent misfire,
Refurbish the wheels,
Proper four wheel alignment (just to make sure)

Will need an MOT early July but I can't see there being any problems.
