The Plot Thickens...

I have decided to end the transaction on that car..:thumb:

I'm going to buy a 55 plate 7 seat S211 E320 CDi tomorrow.
It's a 400 mile round trip but it's a 1 owner car and that one owner is none other than the dealer principle at his local Mercedes.:D

I'm leaving at 6.30 A.M., so if you see someone driving up the M5 around dinnertime tomorrow with a big grin on his face, that'll be me!!

Good man.

Mines a One owner car :) My dad ! who collected it from the factory.

200 mile each way is nothing :) done that many a time to get the right car, it should be worth it.

I guess you havn't seen it yet though? lots of pictures?

Whats the spec etc.

I hope all turns out ok.

Specification;
Parking sensors F&R
Quad Zone Climate
COMAND with TV
Rear factory TV ( the one on the transmission tunnel)
7 seater
6 CD Changer
Err... That's it I think.... No heated or memory seats but there is always a compromise, I suppose.

I'm glad you decided to walk away from the other one, the one you're going to look at tomorrow sounds like a nice car, TV enabled too, mines only got DVD!.

It's the V6 CDi aswell, which I was trying to acquire.

I'm getting a bit excited now.... Or is it relief, due to what seems the longest melodrama I've ever known!

I can't remember with the CDI engines, is the earlier 320 a straight 6?, the 270 a 5 cylinder then around 2005 the 320 went to V6?.

The 320 CDI is a great engine, I've driven one in a CLK and it was the perfect mix of decent performance and decent economy, enjoy:thumb:.
How come the E500 had to go?.

Yes, yes and yes. :thumb:
Early 320 Cdi upto about an '05' plate were IL6 5 speed box with 204 BHP & 369lbs/ft torque.
The V6 320 CDi engine starts from about the '05' onwards and has 224 BHP with 376lbs/ft torque.

^ but if you have one of these.... a little more :)

The description of a car having FMBSH seems to be very elastic.
Two of the 5 MBs we have bought have been described as FMBSH.
On neither occasion did this turn out to be true.

Some sellers have a very optimistic view of what FMBSH means.

OK ... On neither occasion did we buy a dud.
I gave them a good coat of looking-at before confirming the purchase.
And, on both occasions, picked up a bargain.

I think on mine its around 250bhp and 500lbs torque

on yours 272bhp and 550lbs torque

plus :) :) :)

Re D6 (III)
The bhp right at 272 but the torque is wrong - it's 580Nm, which is much less than 550lbs.

Are you actually buying it from the dealer principle?

Sorry sweetpea, I meant are you buying it from him as a private sale?
