The worst ever Crash Test?

i restored a vw type 2 last summer,,spent ages on it,, saw this clip and sold it!!

What gets me is that most of the Chinese cars there are knock offs of western cars. Somehow while they're copying them they also seem to be robbing all the crash strength that the original designers put in.

Brilliance BS6 looks suspiciously like a old Lexus GS300, the Jiangling Landwind is clearly a Vauxhall Frontera.

As for the last one, yes that looks rather like a Volga.

The last one is truely shocking, you would never survive that, you can put as many airbags in a car if you like but if there is no structural integrity then theres no point

if you ever read the details behind the VW pickup one (rather than believing everything you read on the internet) you'd have found out that it was staged

It was a test of the equipment carried out at 160 kph (100mph) with a 2 tonne payload

look at the wall it ran in to - not the usual half height one was it?

Or you could just look at the pretty pictures and not let the "facts" spoil a good story :)

It doesn't help having the engine in the rear as all the mass just keeps pushing forwards. That's one reason why the two worst are so.

I did wonder that when I first saw it but there is another shot from the other side and you can't see any payload int he back.

I think the message must be 'Do not crash'.

Imagine if all cars were this weak again. People might drive a bit more carefully and slowly..

Forget airbags, fit steering wheel spikes...

Thats what cars were like in the 50s - pointy teering wheels and no seat belts.... you'd be 12 times per mile more likely to die in a car crash in 1950:eek:

Holden Commodore.

Yeah, Got that now ;) :D ...it wasn't in the first linky...
I'm surprised given the Holden wasn't a rear engined car AFAIK.

I wonder how fast that crash test was?
