Would like to change the thermostat on my ML270 CDI

Is there any thing I should be wary of or remember to do?

I have read about the fragile fuel lines.

Thanks

Drain off 2 or 3 of litres of coolant (that you can pour back after replacing the thermostat), remove the oil filter cover (for better access to the 'stat), The new stat comes complete with new rubber seal and also a new temp sender unit. Not a bad job and should take you about 30/45 minutes.

It's not a bad job really. It can be done with oil filter still in place but is more fiddley and time consuming.
As you mentioned be careful with the fuel lines.

I found the best way to bleed the system afterwards was to leave the cap off and squeeze the top hose until the coolant level stops dropping. Also have your heaters on full and max heat. You will get cold air at first but once it gets hot you should be rid of any air locks.

Thanks, job done.

The worst part is the damn fuel lines.

Made a huge difference to the temperature and getting the vehicle up to the correct emp.
