They swapped my battery !

Well GSF actually stated me a smaller Bosch battery for the spec of the car which was around £60. I think this must be the same one that Costco do ?

On the MB part no, it is a far bigger a battery 35x18x19.

No. I have a 100amp battery from Costco.
Your car is probably listed as requiring a smaller battery but why not have piece of mind with the larger version. You cannot physically fit a larger battery in my tray than what I have actually fitted.

The smaller Costco battery is rated at 88amp/hr and from memory was about £54. I believe there is also a 75amp version which is just under £50.

2001 CLK200K

The Mercedes part number directly points to an Bosch S6 which is 95Ah. They don't make a 100Ah one now ?

On the basis of the car it goes to a a smaller one S5 I think

Just been down the dealership.

At first they claimed that they wouldn't have had to take the battery off when they did the work?

They clearly had as my Radio was security locked and needed a code when I picked it up.

Anyhow after speaking to a technician the lady said the battery may have been disconneited and run down over the time that they had, had it. I've now got to take the car in, leave it with them while they charge the battery for 24hrs after which they'll do a battery test.

I get a courtesy car in the meantime.

I agreed to this, but TBH this is just nonsense. It's causing me more hassle than it's worth, so if I can find a suitable battery I'm probably better off just getting a new one

You should be demanding that they either put back your old battery if they can find it, or put in a brand new Mercedes battery. Don't let them fob you off with testing the one they put in!!

Yes I agree, but that's all that they offered me for now. They take the car in, charge it up and then test it.

It'd probably be cheaper for them to stick a new battery in there but if they want to go down that path it's upto them.

If a new battery is only £50 then I'm tempted to sod it as I don't need the hassle otherwise.

There is some confusion over what is the right battery for my car from both GSF and Europarts, one is £60 which is the recommended equivalent and the bigger £100 one as a direct replacement ???

Agree. Your being completely taken for a mug. Stand your ground and insist! It could be construed as theft now couldnt it? I had a bit of a run in with the local stealership in the past and ended up sending a letter to MB head office in Germany. Rapid response and ended up getting it resolved as i wanted and in quick time.

Yep ok I'm going to drop the car off tomorrow and I'm going to say I want a proper working battery in there, whether it be my one or a new one.

If they charge up the old one and they get it working that's upto them but I will expect it to work.

I reckon they'll charge it up and then say it's a faulty battery on testing. Which is why this is all leading to a fob off.

I'm happy to allow them the benefit of the doubt as it could have been a genuine mistake but when she started giving me nonsense that they hadn't even disconnected the battery then I was not happy.

Not wishing to offend, but the time spent posting on here would have been better spent at the dealership demanding a replacement. If it is causing you as much grief as you indicate, why not get the biggest battery possible to get you going again from wherever. Then take 'their' battery back to them with the information you have posted here and an invoice for the new item, demanding that it be reconciled.

To-ing and fro-ing over what battery is correct or not is obviously causing you some distress. Please take my advice and that of others. You will not be let down by the biggest battery available, whereas the smaller accumulator may give problems in the colder weather.
