Thinking of buying an S320

Nice one, good luck with you're purchase, there are some very nice old beasts being bought on the forum this week!

Well it fell into my hands at about 5ish today and all I can say is wow!

I've done just over 100 miles tonight. Economy wise it's not bad for a big ole bus, it's used just over an 1/8th of a tank. It's not exactly a rocket but it's not slow either and it makes a Ronin-esque noise doing it :D

Everything works apart from the central locking from the remote fob, I'll look into it tomorrow morning. It's soooooo comfy infact it's nearly uncomfortable! The ride is still superb but it's a bit rolly in the bends, nowhere near enough for a 2500kg 5m long car. The stereo is a bit useless, just a Sony tape deck but I've an iPod controlling Alpine one to go in.

The only other gripe is a bit of a knock coming from the front end, sounds a bit like an antiroll bar bush so I'llcheckthat out later.

I still can't believe the amount of value I got though.

Hi Lugy...the link does not work on pistonheads now have you any pics..? what did you pay for it?

Yup, it's up for sale. After 5 months here's what I've found;

It's an awesome car, masses of comfort, loads of toys, has proven pretty reliable (it's not just now though due to a potential immobiliser issue I'm checking out), it's surprisingly quick given it's size/weight too. Where allowed (:p) it'll sit at 100mph+ all day long. All for a grand. Servicing costs are little more than any other modern car .

However it's not a car I love, on motorway trips it's epic but when you get to the fun roads it's just tiresome, it doesn't feel as heavy as the figures suggest, but it's certainly no Locost, the nearly Land Rover tyres don't help either as it wallows around. I've proven that you can keep up massive pace cross country, even giving my mates 540i something to think around, though (not being big headed) I can seem to drive most vehicles this way :p! The fuel consumption is terrible also.

As a big, comfy, convenient car it's ideal and I'd recommend one to anyone, you'd struggle for better. If you want something more then look elsewhere!

I think it's back to a W201 2.5-16 for me.
