Ok folks, not sure if this is the right place to post this but here goes anyway. After much deliberation I think I'm going to part company with my beloved E55 due to the fact that it just doesn't get used enough and with the SL600 sitting in the garage I'm struggling to justify having two such cars for cruising at the weekends.

Here's the low down......

2001 (Y) E55 AMG Facelift
Brilliant Silver
132K
Full MB Service History
New rear discs and pads
Recent front discs and pads
New control arms
4 wheel alignment (Drives straight as a die)
MOT til November
Taxed til December
Sunroof
Climate
Comand
Nav
Full electric heated Black Nappa Leather
AMG mats
Birds Eye Maple
AMG Gear knob
Nokia Phone Kit
6 CD Changer

I wont bore you with the rest of the spec.

Recently had both front wings replced and both rear arches sorted under MB goodwill. There is a very small rust blister in the leading edge of the bonnet.

Wheels are just about to be refurbed and two new rear tyres fitted.

Drives like a dream.

Any sensible suggestions as to how much it's worth in the current climate would be much appreciated before I advertise it.

Thanks in advance,

Leigh.

These things do vary in price quite a bit. But it's a nice history and good colour.
£7,995 and it would look cheap on the internet, but maybe I am just being harsh on it.

Sounds like £4000 to me, Ill come and pick it up at the weekend ;)

i'm realistically thinking £5-6k, how long u had it for?

£5k probably.

Way too many older AMG's on the market - even if they are brilliant with the credit crunch and high fuel prices they arn't the most desirable.

132k miles is against it.

Very nice car though - amazing colour and options.

Quick look on Piston heads and they seem to range from 6K to 9K

Depends how quick you want to sell it, millage I guess will put people off. Buying from a trader you also get some come back and possible warranty.

Its a nice spec though.

Take pleanty of pics write a good add and put it on Piston heads, see what happends.

Crap, I was well out. Haven't got Glass' at home with me but I've got access to CAP and it caps clean at £3,390 and it isn't a book car. I am so shocked. I presumed these AMGs still fetched a reasonable amount of money.

very simple advice but boy do alot of people ignore it.

Glasses guide / parkers etc not always best with these types of cars,

Check comparible cars for sale / autotrader / PH / ebay and get a feel for the market.

Your right a lot of adds I read are useless. Few pictures, poor description....move on..

Parkers is useless for anything.

Glass' usually gives a good idea of retail figures and CAP usually gives a good guide of what to buy in for. Very rarely will anyone pay over book for a car it's just a case of how close you can get to book. I'd expect your car in the trade to fetch £3k.

Also worth bearing in mind that others may be advertised for £6k-£9k it doesn't mean they are selling.

How long have you had the car?

Well thats an interesting range of prices, I was thinking around the £5-6K mark myself.

I've owned it for about 18 months.

Forgot to mention it has 18 months aftermarket warranty remaining which is transferable for £25. Not as good as the dealer warranty but covers the major mechanical failures.

Thanks guys, will have to give it some serious thought. If anyone happens to be looking for one you know where I am! :D

Thats good, at least your not thinking 9K as that good be tricky..

Sounds a fair price and the warranty will help.

Good luck

Like I said £5k is good, try at £5500 and you should get a reasonably quick sale at £5k or £5250. 132k miles will put most people off as already said.

Description sounds lovely and the extended warrenty is a real plus. Full black leather is also a plus as I think its better than the two-tone which can get discoloured if not cared for.

Thanks.

I'd second that, 5,500 sounds about right. There's a couple of nice looking E55's in designo blue metallic that have been for sale for ages at dealers for around 8k and with lower mileage but still havent sold...

One other problem you may find (other than mileage) is that your car is a 2001, so compared to a 2000 car it costs a lot more to tax for the exact same vehicle spec:mad:. A mate of mine recently bought a BMW 540 and avoided looking at cars registered after march 2001 because of it.

It does however sound like a very well specced car and a tidy example. If there is no or very little rust, then mention that too in the advert as it will make it stand out from most other W210's

I'm with 500E as well, although there are plenty on trader for 7-9k many of them have been for sale for well over 12 months, some nearer 18+.

Road tax is only £210 a year on mine.

Do you have any pics to post up of it, to whet the appetite as it were!

Haven't got any at the mo, I was going to wait until the wheels had been refurbed and then advertise it. Will get some up as soon as I can, cheers.

Any progress? you still selling the E55?

Still undecided at the mo. The wheels are being refurbed next week. Will make a final decision then.
