Living with speeders does open the eyes, I live in the country on a single track lane with a 30 limit and loads of z bends, some cars reach 90+ down it scares the S++t out of me. Should not blame JC for that I hear you say why not I blame him for eveything else, rain, price of beans etc.

I think all here agree that inappropriate driving should be stamped upon. But blanket speed limits from an obsessive Government egged on by self appointed do-gooders and self interested Camera partnerships, all hugging themselves with smug satisfaction, is not the way to go.
Norway is the prime example of how not to do it. The oppressive speed restrictions, huge fines and manadatory jail terms have led to the point where some Police are now refusing to enforce: the fines for speeding are in excess of those for possessing Heroin. This is what the Nanny State is capable of:

Just read that ... it is funny and so unbelievable ... except it's not a wind-up. Look at the heading:
What would a 'sensible' driving show be like?
By Steve Hounsham
Transport 2000
He is their Communications Manager; there is no explanation from the BBC that it is a wind-up and I wouldn't think for one moment that the BBC would attribute a made-up article to someone who is campaigning to have one of their shows taken off the air!
They are collectively off their trolley and it is a disgrace that our money is going to fund these buffoons. They do not live in the real world; in their "London Village" world they might have a tube station on their doorstep and buses that come along every three seconds. Out here ("helloooo, yes we do exist!"), you *cannot* live comfortably without a car.
God, reading that drivel has got me all agitated now! Transport 2000; a bunch of sanctimonious tw*ts
