What happened to the engine and gearbox, were they recovered or are they still down there?
 
There is a postscript to this tale ....

I was having a coffee with my dad today and the owner of Brown Owl phoned up to say that now the level has dropped his boat has sat down on the missing half of the hull ( containing the engine and box ).

We moved Brown Owl once the tide had risen slightly to a safer mooring and the EA are coming to grab the last bits early next week.

The salvage team found the plaque that all the Little Ships have in their wheelhouse that says ' DUNKIRK 1940 ' and gave it to John Tough ( whose grandfather organised the Little Ships themselves ) who will return it to the ADLS.
 
It's past even Gorilla Glue.

Although there looks to be some good wood there ( the boat was Mahogany on Oak )
