After deliberating for longer than I care to remember and changing my mind several times I have finally pinned down a car which I think is reasonably priced, well spec's and just right for my cash flow and general situation. I was going to go balls out and spend 20k on a gorgeous car but I've decided to use my common sense and trim the budget. With that in mind I have selected this car for my hopeful purchase but not before some perusal by those who know on this forum. The info I'm really hoping to find on here is regarding any looming large service around the corner and what common issues I may be buying along with the motor itself. I've also never bought a car from a dealer before so this is my cherry, so to speak. Is the price always the price or should I always expect some wiggle? How do these things usually go? Any hints and tips would be very much appreciated. Thanks again for any and all comments. I do appreciate it.

Steve.

The big services were year 4 (Service B, Brake Fluid, Cabin Filter, Air Filter, Fuel Filter), and year 5 (Service A, ATF and Filter).

So as long as the 2016 and 2017 services were carried-out in full (i.e. including the additional items listed above), then the cost for the 2018 service (has it been done yet?) and 2019 service will not be excessive.

Of course, even the basic MB servicing isn't cheap, but the point is that the big services should be behind you (if you buy this car).

The next two big services will be year 8 (2020) and year 9 (2021). But you can buy an MB Service Care Plan to reducd the cost.

Nice looking car. I would expect a bit of discount every time ,never bought a car yet even from the large dealers that there never was a bit of movement, and don’t forget fuel in the tank.
Go in low and see how you get on.

As always I'm really grateful for your help especially the service history. Any thoughts on the price of the car? It seems reasonable to me but I'm an absolute rookie and will be the most money I've ever spent on a car. I bought my work van a few years back for the same figure.

The Air Filter, Fuel Filter, and ATF are not mentioned in the list above.

It does not mean they have not been done, but it's worth checking and verifying, otherwise the catch-up service bill could be hefty.

Service History does seem a bit strange showing:

A
A
A +Fuel/Air Filter & Brake Fluid = B?
B
A + Brake Fluid

I'd want the receipts to back these up as they don't make a lot of sense to me.

Very nice - love the roof on an estate
Sat nav maps updated?
COMAND firmware updated to enable BT music streaming?

Worth checking alongside the ATF change as well
Tyre condition also (being picky......)

I had been looking for the gearbox oil but assumed it must been included in one of the previous services. I'll have good rifle through the previous receipts to see if I can find evidence that's it's been done. If it hasn't how much would that cost as I think they're it's due around 75k from previous info I saw on here. Thanks again guys. I'm hoping to set off shortly so these nuggets of info are really helpful.

Turns out the car isn't available to view today after all. I thought all car showrooms were open on a Sunday so I'm left very disappointed as I was hoping to secure it today. Was also looking at an almost identical one near Birmingham with a slightly less spec but it's been reserved straight away with a deposit. With work and shared custody of young twins I find it really difficult to find time for these trips so I'm a bit miffed :wallbash:
