This SL hurts my face

It's very black :D

Camera angle not very flattering

People are going to expect to hear a V12 but instead here an inline 6....
mmmmm :o

Or, "Only for sale due to lack of friends wanting a ride"

Wrong, wrong, wrong, wrong, wrong!

I hate replicas like this. Now if it were to read 'Merc 300 with mighty 7.3 lump fitted' then I would be more interested. Instead, it's all mouth and no trousers.

Looks like an AMG kit on close inspection. Black wheels don't suit it as it needs a polished dish, but apart from that looks like any other factory AMG SL.

You guys made it sound like a barry/chavved up SL. Period car with period wheels which happen to be black, nowhere near as bad as some are making it out to be.

Agreed.
However, not my cup of tea, but there you go. We are all different.

Well the "7.3" badging on a 3.0 doesn't help. Nor does the Brabus branding if it's actually an AMG.

Apart from that it's an 18 year old LHD 300SL with a bodykit. I think the wheels are hideous, personally!

The side skirt sure aint AMG.......the whole thing's a bit YUK....

But Brabus were building things like this back in the day .... that was the styling of the era ....

If it was a genuine one , people sure wouldn't be taking the p*** , people would be drooling .... Have to be honest , i like it ( but then i like old skool styling )

I agree about upbadging it though .... bad idea ...

People will be expecting a Brabus V12 sound at the lights , not a 6 cylinder ...

It looks like the car might only have been in this country since February of this year, (27/02/08) but if black is your thing, then this is certainly a black car. I did smile when the author suggested it was an ideal car for Spain:devil: :D

Very much a personal choice which we might either love or hate.

Regards
John

Just because something is AMG or Brabus does not mean we all have to like it either. Personally I'd always prefer a wolf in sheep's clothing - not the other way around.

Not saying you have to like it Pammy ....

You show me something ever made by Brabus that could be described as a 'wolf in sheeps clothing' , it just doesn't exist ...... thats not the point of the company ..... Even their Unimog looks nuts ...

If you want soething like that , that's what the modern mid range AMG's are for .... normal looking saloons with monster performance.

Take it to Marbella, you'll fit right in ;)

The rims should be diamond cut and polished though , with the spokes gloss black ....

But in this case Howard it's not a 7.3 Brabus - but a 3.00 done to look like a 7.3:crazy:

No Pammy,

But the point i am getting at is that the styling is period , it may look horrid ( in some peoples eyes ) nowadays , but at the time ( late eighties , early nineties ) it was all the rage ....

It's not a 7.3 , but then how many w124 coupes do you see with AMG kits that aren't proper AMG's , no one knocks them , the styling is what makes a car look like it does.

Look at the old wide bodied AMG SEC's , if you turned up at a motor show with a new car that looked like that nowadays , you'd be laughed out of town ..... but in the day , everyone had a poster of them on their wall ....

"ONLY FOR SALE DUE TO NAGGING WIFE WHO SAYS IT LOOKS SILLY!"

MMm - she could be right!!

Lesson #1 - Wives are never wrong.

Even when they are wrong they're actually right. The sooner you accept, then the soon you can move on to:

Lesson #2 - Wives really do need another... pair-of-shoes/bottle-of-perfume/handbag/haircut/etc*

* Delete as applicable.

:D

I don't find it too offensive either. But what do I know, I think pop-up headlamps are cool!!

:D

That's not an SL it's a Saab 900 Turbo 16.
