I think my most recent mercedes has had an effect that no other Mercedes has ever had. It's killed my affection for the brand...

It's been three days since it went and I have not missed it at all, even when down to a 1.0 focus hire car.

It's also cured me of my shed credentials as on Tuesday I take delivery of a new Volvo XC60 2.0d se.

It's a sad day, but I just don't think the newer Mercedes lives up to the older....

*note on the focus. Fantastic car. Adequate performance, silent engine, refinement equivalent to a larger car on the motorway. Averaged 42mpg not hanging about. Later in the day when under no time pressure and crawling behind trucks mpg was 87 mpg over about 40 miles

A sad day but you can at least console yourself with a shopping trip to buy your new cap and slippers :bannana::D

Let us hope that Mercedes heed the words of some of their best customers on here who now drive other steeds. This is because their hard earned brass spent on Mercedes "old nags" of no age at all have let down their marque totally.

Enjoy the Volvo David. Good to see you on Thursday evening and let us know how the Ovlov goes.

Unfortunately the future is electric or plugs in, and mercs are falling behind.Have you tried the new C class David,E is to big and not good for daily commute..

Thanks John - good to catch up.

I've not tried the new C, partly as I need something a little higher for minor off road work excursions....

I've not had a mercedes for a while now and got to say I'm not missing them much, although that could be down to how good my XFS is!

Totally agree with you David my W208 will be my first and last Mercedes, the newer ones just don't have the build quality and reliability any more.

German cars Yes, MB No
