Time for a change, incoming E63 Biturbo

Roger this thing standard is mighty quick. We never felt the need to uprate it. One thing we loved the most was how refined it was when wanted it to be.
I used mine as daily drivers for 5 years and also never felt the need to uprate them. I admire the efforts of those who do, but the reality is there are no UK public roads where you can leave your right foot planted to the carpet for more than 5 seconds and remain legal, so unless you're intending to do VMax or similar events, or will regularly enjoy the derestricted autobahn sections in Germany, the additional performance is of questionable benefit.

Personally, I always enjoyed the "sleeper" aspect of the car. To the vast majority of other motorists it's just another Mercedes taxi. To those who know what it is, they know it's faster than their car unless they're driving some serious exotica or something heavily modified. The combination of refined luxury when you want it and lunatic super-saloon when you choose to use the performance is a beguiling combination. Definitely one of the best cars of the early 21st century.

Totally agree with the above. This car has so much power, it never gets old! 2 years in and I haven't even thought about mods...

I recently did the Inverness 500 (the above pic was at Loch Ness) and never once got to abuse the power as much as I wanted to.

The sleeper aspect is the best thing about it. Other cars on the trip included a Bentley Conti GT Speed and a Porsche 991.2 Turbo S, and the E63 had no issues playing with them two (although the 911 is a complete missile, the faster you go, the more planted it is). My friends were shocked at how quick it was for such a big car!

Super looking E63 !
I'm five months in with the Wagon, the engine is immense.

Looks like a great example Roger - you've been threatening for a while to buy one.

I think black is the best colour for them.

Be interesting to hear your comparisons.

I drove a similar-looking 14 plate back in early 2017 so I know my thoughts on them.

Congratulations on your acquisition !

Lovely looking car and it will be great to hear how you WILL gel with it.

Another W212 E63 owner here, with the Silk Grey Nappa leather (or at least I think that's what its called)....a nice change from the black interiors !

Great car, love the interior - so much nicer than the standard black.

Well done Roger great car with a cracking engine. You are going to have fun in it

Congratulations, stunning looking car Roger.

Yesssssssssssssss....

You’ll love it. Love the interior.

Enjoy it and enjoy tweaking it to your own taste.

Jules....

Great looking car Roger. The main reason I changed from my CL55 Kompressor to the CL63 was the Bi-Turbo. Chalk & Cheese :) I then just had to have Acid wave his Magic Wand :D

Congratulations on your new purchase.
Have you had the pleasure of a cold start yet?

Having owned one for nearly two years, I'd be inclined to leave it alone, it definitely doesn't need more power, personally I don't think it needs lowered either, and you've got the ability of stiffening the suspension already.

No cold start yet Shaun.
My next door neighbour will have that "pleasure" Thursday morning:devil:

I'll not be doing anything to the car for a while anyway. I want to enjoy it as Mercedes intended before I decide if anything is to change.

They're rather noisy on cold start :D

Stupidly loud on cold start to be honest, but only for a few seconds

It’s quite a muted engine other than that, doesn’t have that sense of urgency that a 6.2 does when firing up, more a woofley sound of burble - still decent though :)

A really nice looking car with some nice touches. Enjoy the drive back home.
