Was reading somewhere in here re TMC so made lots of enquires.
Apparantly it is not available in Mercedes Command or APS systems in the UK
Works fine in rest of Europe. All down to stricking a financial deal between Becker & Mercedes UK for the software. Am told it should be available by end of year via software update. However am realiably informed its C**P in the Uk again down to monies Trafficmaster want too much so its run by a much smaller outfit who get there information from Eddie Stobbart and First National!!!!

It is available - some of us are in fact using it ! (with the correct Teleatlas CD)

It directed me away from a closed motorway on Sunday, so I'm pretty happy with it !

The signal is only broadcast on Classic FM at present in this country though.

Try a search on TMC* for more information / threads in this forum.

I got the 2004/2005 disk with my audi, that has TMC and 2 tuners so your TMC channel is seperate.

It's run by a company called ITIS. Check www.rds-tmc.co.uk for info. ITIS hold the license for the broadcast of the data. Whilst the Classic FM restriction is a pain - thats down to the COMAND system not the signal broadcaster. I think it works well.

I have TMC on my 2004 disc (comand 2.0).

Its OK....but nothing to get too excited about. It only works on motorways, and the update speed seems to be slow.

I drove back home up the M1 on sunday, the comand said congestion and roadworks along several long sections of the motorway (the dreaded white and red dashed lines) but when I drove those sections, they were clear. I can only presume that there had been problems earlier in the day.

In contrast to this, I found TMC very useful in France. The update rate is much quicker (every few minutes 'doris' says 'the route is being re-calculated taking traffic conditions into account'). I don't know why this should be... it must be related to the organisation operating the TMS system.

Like Paul said, it is ok, just wish it covered A roads. Does anyone have TMC working properly on another make of car. Does it cover A roads?

Yep - worked fine on A roads in my BMW. Not always spot on with info (jams clearing before being updated, etc) but personally found it very useful......
