Today I bought a... CLK DTM AMG !

Yes, I'm sure I will manage! :o

I've had a closer look and it may not be a stone... the two pipes connecting the diff to the cooler have pen marks all the way down them on the joints so you know if they have moved... and one of them has moved. It *maybe* that this was not done up tight enough on the service where they changed the diff oil, and it has come loose letting the oil out.

Guess I will find out in the next day or two...

surely you can place the blame on MB as you've only had the car for such a short period of time..? or am i completely wrong!

Only just caught up with this threads too, sorry about the oil leak, but what a stunning car :thumb:

Stewart Chubb

Any chance you may sell it? give me shout

Only just saw this thread but this has to be the best "just popped out to the shops and bought a...." thread EVER! Well done Maff and hope the oil issue was sorted

Wasn’t planning on buying a new car, but I went to MB World last Friday to look at the SLS with my business partner and they had a 2007 CLK DTM Cabriolet on display which looked lovely.

Being the weak willed person that I am when it comes to cars I asked how much they would give me for my BMW 325d Estate against the DTM, as my C63 AMG arrives in a few weeks anyway, so I already had my BMW up for sale in autotrader.

They pretty much gave me the price that I was after for the BMW so I agreed to have a test drive of the car this afternoon.

Well, it is certainly very quick (not quite as quick as the 599) nice hard but supple ride and its sounds like nothing I have heard before. I didn’t get to try the handling out too much but it was a very precise feel and feedback, again not up to 599 standards but a different car altogether.

The main reason I bought it was that it is just so different to most other cars on the road and whilst it may not be the last word in performance or handling (being a convertible doesn’t help) its just such a different type of car I could not resist, plus there are only 6 of them in the UK out of 100 made worldwide so it is very rare.

I pick it up next week and can’t wait, although I may now be sleeping in it now I’ve told the wife what I have done!!

Will post some more pictures and video’s once I get it. :bannana:

Matt.

Did I see this/You driving through Henley On Thames a week or so back?

More than likely, I live in Henley on Thames.

Matt.

Really? So do I. I just saw Maidenhead under your name and assumed you were passing through. I'm surprised I haven't seen your car more often going through the town.

Seeing your car has made me want to mod/part ex my CLK for a DTM!

Yes I need to update my profile!
I moved about two months ago to Henley.

Very very nice car...... to those that know.

However ask the man in street and he might say its a bit Max Power with bodykit and spoilers stuck all over it.

Think I'd have opted for something else.... just my opinion but I think it has an image problem.

We tend to lust after cars due to their looks (and other things I grant you) - but I don't personally think this car cuts it in the looks dept...thats just my opinion.

I don't think I'd be blown away if it passed me in the street - certainly based on the purchase price!

I think is was designed to go really fast around a track...which it does.

My guess is it will spend 90% of time on the road though.

And probably a couple of runs at VMax at Brunters...

Probably about 60/40 track/road, but not far off. :D
Yes, you may have seen it on the VMAX thread on Pistonheads, if not, i've just posted the video of it at Brunters is in the Driving Section of this forum!

I agree about the looks, in fact I am not keen on the spoiler. Most people do think its a bodykit... until they see inside and the bespoke carbon fibre interior and seats.

However, I bought the car as I am a car nut, and I dont have any plans to sell it. If it were my only car, or even second car, I would have bought something else, Ferrari 430 Scuderia for example.

Maff in terms of driving its probably heaven.

I was shooting in the dark on Brunters never saw anything on PH - thought it would be ideal place for it though I'm going to watch the video and will give my opinion after that (probably be eating humble pie!)

Each to their own I'm just not keen on all the 'plastic / carbon bits'

Thread ressurection alert

What was the outcome of the oil leak please?
