Anyone bought a TTG yet? Almost got one yesterday whilst looking for Stonehenge, however decided to wait and get one on line at a discount price. Dabs are doing 12 month interest free for £430 which seems much better than PCWorld's £499.

Just interested to see if anyone has had any experience with one?

If i'm not mistaken, and i'll check. PC World near me are quoting £399 but I dont know if that includes any extras. My brother in law has one and he reckons they are pretty good. He does a lot of 'Chips Away' type body repairs in the East Yorkshire area and it gets him to his customers and anywhere else he needs to be OK.

This should have been posted in the electronics section, moving...

I bought one from dabs for £430 inc vat and delivery on 12 months interest free. Too cheap to say no. Should have it by the weekend.

Can you install plugin's like the camera database, POI warner (to warn of the camera's) and the postcode look up? These are great add-on's to the pocketpc version of TomTom and I just wondered if you could add them to Go?

Current release of TTG doesn't have import functionality, however it has been announced for the next ROM update, due this summer. Postcode lookup is standard apparently.

TomTom 3 for the pocket pc states post code support, but you can't just type in the post code, you have to type in the address, then it shows you the postcode. Seems a bit stuipid, but thankfully there is a plugin to support it.

I have looked at all the available Sat Navs (in car and transferable) and for the price tomtomgo is about the best in my opinion however after a lot of deliberation and consideration to what i wanted i choose to have the comand fitted after all its a merc and anything but the right part just doesnt seem right !!! you got to go for a comand if you want sat nav

Comand is very cool, but not so much of an option for me, and portability is great. I can take the TTG with me in mates' cars as well. Also can be sold separate from the car if needed.

depends on how creative you are :)

As you only have the car for 12 months fitting something like command wouldn't be worth it, the portable solutions are much better for changing between cars.

Arrived. Seems ok so far. Must charge and have a proper play with it. By the way. Dabs are sooooooooooooooooooo painful to deal with. Ended up price matching at PCWorld. £444 in the end.

Quick update:

The unit is a great package. Everything you need. It literally took less than 5 minutes to get up and running in the PC World car park.

In short, the unit and mount go very nicely just about anywhere. Battery looks good for about 7-8 hours, however you can use the supplied cigarette lighter cable.

GPS reception in Central London is a little sketchy, but still ok to get you around. The ASN direction sensor allows navigation through tunnels - updates the map nicely.

Software is very easy to use. Comes with a 128mb SD card, but to hold GB and Marjor Roads of Europe 256MB or more is required. PC software doesn't really do anything interesting. Customisable POI support (speed camera database) is being tested by a few people in the UK right now, and is apparently working very well although the guy I spoke to is under an NDA, so cannot say too much.

Money well spent. Only issue is figerprints on the screen, although a screen protector ought to fix that.

Hi all,

I recently bought a NavMan Pin, so just incase anyone is looking to get something like this, i think its great value.. £399 and whole of europe, all mounts and chargers supplied, and its a fully funtional pda all in one... Im v pleased with it..

Does the latest NavMan have a road block option? Or a alternative route option? (rather than just quickest or shortest which the last version had). I've just switched to TomTom 3 and find these make the unit much more usefull than my NavMan unit and wondered if NavMan have caught up. I was stuck in traffic at the weekend in North Wales and used the roadblock feature and it worked a treat. The itinery function is also something NavMan didn't have, to plan a route with a number of stops.

For anyone that is interested, the iPaq 1910 screen protectors fit the TTG perfectly. I actually removed the Writeshield from my 1910, as I don't use it anymore and installed it on the TTG.

Instantly cured the glare problem!
