Too Much Oil

Addison Lee minicab company.

Ah, thanks. Maybe they class taxi's as being under extreme working conditions, or something like that (other manufacurers do).

I was in an AddLee W213 the other day, the driver said this car was using about a litre of oil every 5000miles. This seems very high to me! Apparently all the Addlee drivers of W213s are having similar issues. This is why MB are over filling the engine oil to it's absolute maximum, in an attempt to stop the engine oil level going below minimum level before the service indicator pops up on the dash. Anyone else having a similar issue?
1 litre every 5000 miles. No problem, well within spec. Any taxi driver in a Merc should have a litre of oil in the boot ready to go in. I carry a litre with me and I am 4000 miles shy of my next service but expect to have to put it in before service is due.

There's always a dipstick tube. MB just don't supply a dipstick, it's only a workshop tool now.
So , you will find tubes as well as dipsticks in some MB workshops ? :D

If the dealer had taken the car for a proper run before handing the car back to the OP, they would have probably spotted this message themselves. I had to top up my expansion tank after a service once because there was still an air bubble somewhere in the cooling system that hadn't been purged with a good run.
