My E55 has been away all week at my local body shop getting some paint and paint correction carried out.

At the same time I supplied all new bumper inserts including chrome trim to painted up and fitted. Im very please with the result and finally feel the car is getting to the standard I want.

My next bit of work is to clean the exhaust tips, but the chrome has flaked off on the bottom edge so I may need to replace. Im in two minds around the badge, I replaced the rear star for a new one. Just not sure if I like uber clean look or not yet.

Then there is the grille still in two minds about that as well, the purist in me wants the classic style.

Anyway sorry about quality of the pictures, I just wanted to share how she was looking now.

Looking good Mr H.
BTW, some of your photos still show the reg#

Undecided on the grill as to whether it's an improvement or not. I still like it though:thumb:

Thanks mate, photo bucket is a nightmare at times, they are edited but for some reason the original picture still shows. Have removed now thanks, too many strange people on the net to leave ones reg visible.

Anyone local to Worcester area who wants the info for the bodyshop your welcome to pm me.

Paint looks amazing.

I'm not a fan of the boot spoiler or badge on the grill - I just don't think they work on the E55 but I love the wheels - are they 19" and OEM?

Looks great and it sits well on those wheels.

Before you replace the exhaust have you thought about spraying?

It all blends together well, the grill looks good, not classic, but just depends on your personal taste.

Give the tail pipes a polish and see how they turn out, if it doesn't work you've just lost a little time and can still replace them.

I must admit, I am surprised at some peoples paranoia about showing their number plate?
I will be doing at least 120 miles tomorrow morning into a very busy city, and I am sure more people will see my plate on that journey (as well as cameras all over the place) than there is members on this forum? or do you hide your plate when you take your car out anywhere?
Do you also cover up the VIN number displayed in the window?
If I am not mistaken, you also have a personal plate? So you spent extra money on a plate you do not want people to see?

Baffled.... Please explain?

Neil

Stunning looking car.

Boot spoiler looks well, and even though the wheels aren't to my taste they do go well in the arches.

The less I say about the big star grille on a W211 the better.

Nothing to explain really, just personal preference based on experience. I do get your rationale and perhaps that indicates a irrational reason for not displaying my number.

Thanks mate. I like the spoiler but no doubt that will change as I get bored with these things. Grill, I too am not sure about think I will need to get one to see.

Wheels are indeed 19's but they are replicas, copies, fakes. I had pondered getting some genuine wheels but the thought of putting 2k worth of wheels on an 8k car didn't gel. Also the Mrs has already slightly kerbed two wheels, so I'm glad I didn't.

Quality seems good and they have survived the salt very well. That said they had alot of coats of wheel sealant on them.

Thanks mate. Wheels I like very much, but doubt I will keep them longer than a year. For no other reason than I just get bored.

Any opinions of the complete removal of all the badges? Look better or just too bare?

Also forgot to add I got a new number plate plinth and had that painted as well.

Looks Stunning, Keep the badges, and Clean the exhaust tips ;)

Mine has the star and nothing on the grille. I quite like it like that but I wouldn't care if I had to have no star. If someone ever broke it off - I think I'd go for the flat badge and leave it at that.

As for badges on the boot - I prefer them on. I think it looks too bare without them!

As I had a spare set of boot badges in stock I fitted them today. Massive thanks to Alps with helping with the locations.

I don't have any of the V8 Kompressor badges. Therefore I was looking at badges today.

I came across the black 6.3 style badges but instead saying 5.5. Would provide a link but on my mobile.

So do I stick with the original or newer look style side badges.
