Hi!

I've been reading all the threads here on C63 specs and options, and have just been to look at a 2008 one.

Currently it seems my two options are:

2008 with PP and 41k miles, Comand system, 2 previous owners

2008 with 17k miles, Comand system, Harmon Kardon surround sound system (standard?), still waiting to hear about previous owners.

Both are pretty much identical prices at £29k, and both from mercedes dealers. The first one there may be a little price movement, and/or second year warranty thrown in, the second one, asking price only. I have the option sheet on the second one, but can't see whats actually optional and what isnt. Seems that its only the cup holders and the comand system/linguatronic?

Any thoughts? I always gravitate to lower mileage the refusal to negotiate irritates me but I'm trying to be sensible!

-So essentially, is the PP (not the PP+, so just suspension, brakes and silly steering wheel) worth the extra 34k miles?

I havent driven the other one, so I can't compare the ride with/without. I'd actually have to buy it unseen it looks like, though I can have a friend who has a C63 check it out for me.

Lower miles etc would be my bet. £29k is a lot of money and I'd want a newer example for the outlay

If you want the original factory-build data cards please post the VINs up on this forum and someone (might even be me!) will be able to tell you the exact spec they left the factory with.

Hi the ppack also includes a lsd on the above car and it handles much much better than a non ppack car due to the stiffer springs but be aware the ride is rather harsh if you want to track it and get the rear out buy the ppack car if not the lower miles car is a better bet the black ppack car you have seen has been on sale for quite some time and has highish miles for a c63 haggle hard or wait for a lower mile ppack car as it will appeal more to a petrolhead come resale time due to the ppack which was a £5k option new.

Thanks, the lower mileage car is FIN: WDD 204077 2F 227758

The option list is below, but given they include everything from the engine to the rear axle on it, I'm having a slightly tough time figuring it out!

I'd forgotten about the LSD which was the main reason I wanted it in the first place! -I thought the PP was £3.5k new? and the PP+ was £5k?

I thought about getting the lower spec one and fitting an aftermarket lsd, but I'm assuming that would kill my warranty!

I think I am aiming much more towards the lower mileage one to be honest, since in addition its on channel island plates which means no road tax too!

You can't drive a car on channel island plates in the UK.

Has anyone paid the VAT on it when it was imported to the UK?

Parktronic amg mats cup holder birds eye comand and hk audio are all options it is missing dab and the 19" alloys but seems a ok spec car yes you are correct it was approx £3.5k

Very very high spec car.

hmmm make it torn between 3 now... That is a very nice looking one, but is quite a lot more then where I wanted to be with the price, I'm not totally sure we'd be able to do a deal there!

With regards to the low mileage one, there seems to be quite a lot of previous owners, I have yet to establish exactly how many, and have asked for a copy of the log, one thing I have verified is that its had 4 previous trade owners, and 7 previous number plates! -I'm a little uncomfortable with that!

Mercedes Eastbourne had a nice looking one, but again, 4 previous owners.

You can drive a C.I registered car in the UK for up to 6 or 12 months, I forget which. I used my Guernsey registered motorbike here for nearly a decade without issues as I often took it back to race, leaving it there for a week or so before bringing it back over.

One could argue that these type of vehicles quite often have a high number of owners or 'turnover' not because of anything sinister, more because they are an 'itch to be scratched' type of vehicle.

Peeps buy em on impulse or to fulfill a dream, waz round for a few months then sack em off cause they are 'satisfied' or get sick of visiting Fuel Stations!

This is actually what I'm finding to be the case. The low mileage one that I was looking at seems to have had 5 previous owners. Think I'm going to pass, don't fancy trying to sell it in a couple of years telling some bloke he'll be owner number 7! -Same with one I found in Birmingham

Back to the first one for a hard haggle I think

Or get a new one? MB offer decent deals, discount and finance on them.

And for the record I'm not baiting or trolling.

Does OP live in Guernsey?

Has anyone paid the import duty on the car or the VAT?

I actually have a place in Jersey, in fact I'm considering registering any car I buy here, in Jersey, the registration will cost about £800 all in, but there's no road tax and no MOT and insurance would be about £800 less a year. I go back a few times a year.

-The Jersey one is out of the picture now though to be honest.

Not looking at the new ones, not into pcp deals, and wouldn't buy new with the new one a year away to be honest.

As an aside, I think if you've owned the car for a couple of years you don't have to pay the VAT if you import it

Fair do, happy hunting. A food few will be about.
