Hi all,
Long story very short...
I had issues with EGR valve (see previous posts!!) ended up going to main dealer. problem retified... then two weeks later car starts to hang on the gears and lose power so take it back to MD who now say it needs a new torque convertor!!
The car has driven fine with no sign of gears slipping etc until this episode so my Question is can this suddenly happen or will the gear box/torque convertor show sign of failing over time?
Also is it possible for the issues with EGR valve have not been fully rectified and is showing but presenting issue with TC??

thanks!!

^ I'd find an independent specialist with Star and have the codes read again. Torque convertor issues are usually like a manual with a slipping clutch. The revs rise but the car doesn't go any faster. It can commence without warning. If you need the TC repaired, this place comes highly recommended and far cheaper than buying new.

The indy can also scan for further EGR codes.

Thanks for the info, interesting to know about jpat.

Just out of interest, if you were to get the torque converter remanufactured, how would the process work?
Do you take it to a local garage to dismantle the torque converter and get it sent down to jpat or do you drive the car there and leave it with them (public transport back home)?

I've not used the service myself, but would imagine your local indy removes the torque convertor which is sent to JPat where its reconditioned and returned.
I'm sure I read that Bristol area indy Steve at Avantgarde Autos recommended the place having used them.

We use JPAT as well, great service, never had any issues. As above, we do the removal, refitting etc, deal with jpat.

Does sound like the MD diag is wrong though
