Yesterday was a lovely evening. I intended today to tour the Mull of Kintyre but the weather forecast wasn't ideal. This part of the world has lovely sandy beaches, clear water and deserves a full on sunny day to get the best of it.
Instead, I did a small run up Loch Lomond to take some pictures and get the shed to work.
I aimed for the Duck Bay as it has a good view point, parked the shed up and took some photographs.
The shed isn't looking her best as I have not repaired her wings or detailed her, however, she's been on tour twice this month....
As you can see Ben Lomond way in the distance, you can see it was a nice evening....
It was great to walk about here, take in the views. People were camping near by, the Duck Bay hotel doing a roaring trade, and it was great to see June in, my favourite month (I do suffer from Season affect disorder) and I love summer and hate everything about winter, I have to make the most of summer.
The evening still had more to give, doesn't get dark to nearly 11pm. I decided in light of my photo that made the editors choice in the Scottish Field Magazine, to revisit the spot where I took the image, under very different lighting to see what I could come up with. This involved a hop up the A82. Driving fast along this road, maybe fun, but its illadvised as Strathclydes finest lurk here, and hidden, but not too hidden as a brilliant BMW X5 and BMW 5 series traffic car. I may love BMWS, I may think they are the best things since sliced bread, but I don't desire to sit in the back of one, so I cruised up on the NSL. The shed returned well over 40mpg and despite being firmer, she was awesome and still comfortable.
When you get to Tarbert, the A82 becomes a real road, whilst it needs upgrading due to the Volume of traffic, I secretly hope they don't as its twists and turns are brilliant driving. Again, with the Bilstein set up, this car is awesome and comes to life.
Here is my effort this time around
Its not as good, but I love that I can see the moon, its taken late at night and although I used a tripod, there was enough light probably not too.
I snapped a slightly different angle
And pegged it, as the midges were turning my arm into something that resembled a white with red spots Polka dot dress. It was warm enough, just, for a T shirt. God I love summer, it really is amazing.
Then a **** in an amazing BMW 3 series Msport decided to tail gate me. The A82 down Loch Lomond is great, but its is sweeping to Luss and safe overtaking spots aren't as plentiful as you might think. I to be honest wasn't in the mood for a fast drive, summer has this wonderful relaxing effect and with the windows down, arm on the door, I just wanted to waft down, but him/it/she with their fog lights were being a menace. A car in front peeled off, and I looked in the mirror and thought, right....
Kickdown, in the mirror you see a nice wee puff of smoke (I love it when diesels do that, it means they are going FAST) and it dissappeared and I let the speed roll off and the car roll along in gear and the MPG gauge return to 41mpg. It then re-attched itself to my bumper. At the Arden roundabout, Bilstein suspension meant I planted it accross this, making it a spec again....
Did I say I love non OEM suspension...I really love it, it makes the car so tight and precise and drivable....
I thought I'd have one more crack at some picture taking....
Nice evening. Who needs to go down the pub when they can do this?
