First of all on the way down I went to see Ian B Walker and trapperjohn. Ian, thanks for the coffee, and letting us see you in work with the car you had in.
After this, I went to see NW Merc, it was good to meet you mate, and the beef pastries were fab.
The sheds new suspension set up was brilliant on the motorway. It, being lowered, has made it more efficient, and this is excellent, even with the fuel prices dropping slightly, every little helps.
After a nasty traffic jam around the M62, then the M60 the shed tackled the snake pass on the way to Ladybower.
Nice road don't you think. I then met with BEJ and his wife, and I can say we had a most excellent dinner. The Guinea fowl and venision was amazing. Finsestre (the chap with the vito from Buxton) made a guest showing and Lawrence showed up, but they both missed a superb dinner.
The following day I got up early and took some shots around the Ladybower resevoir.
The drain things are really creepy....
I made it back to the Hotel and I got into the shed, and tried to program the route into the Tom Tom, the stig then arrived aka Tim, who put things into prespective...lets get breakfast, and breakfast was good. It was why I was late. Tim seemed to like the sheds new suspension as I demonstrated it near the area.
We met the others at the start point.
Johns new car is ace
here they are together
Sadly John couldnt continue on with us, but nice car mate. Right colour and interior combo too
I decided to follow the stig, as he knows the area. The sheds new suspension meant this was possible as its a night and day improvement, but the issue was over a fast and twisty run a poor surface meant I smacked the bottom of the car off, but it was a laugh.
At the top of the road, which I cannot remember the name, I took this
Then I giggled about how much fun I had. Following the stig was great as where he breaked, I knew I had to, it made an unfamiliar road easier to really press on.
Later on, into the Dales, the stig decided to stop.
Here they both are
we'd well and truly lost the rest, but the stigs local knoweldge and progressive style meant although the shed was drinking fuel, I was having a laugh, and we got ahead.
I stopped to take this picture
As we were parked up, a man who is used to carrying a pond around appeared with the others. It appears now he has the pond out the car, he can now progress quickly....
After a delightful run cross to a pub near Buttertubs, we had a great lunch.
nom nom
I blasted up the buttertubs, enjoying the sheds new body control and agility, and the torque of the V6CDi. It demolishes hills. A nice RWD chassis, grunty engine, its heavenly...
I took a couple of pics at the top
From here, we kind of got lost again. I got stuck at a set of traffic lights, and caught up with Tim, I mean the stig. A quick call to Keith to explain a) we were lost, b) I was hungry, and the hunger situation hammered home the gravity of the situation, instructed us to head to Thirsk and we all met up and then headed to the tea stop. The roads were nice and sweeping and we all settled into a relaxed cruised, windows down, music on, arms and face burning in the sun. The shed still being comfy and not breaking down.... Ace....
The ice cream was ace
Good potential dinner
Nice church and buildings
Afterwards we went via Blakey Ridge. Wow, we were sedate along it, and with stray sheep you have to be, but I'd love to really press on here, clear it of the sheep, make them into lamb chops, and drive like a maniac with the music on LOUD!!!
After dinner I headed back to Ruswarp, shot this and said goodnight, with a burnt arm and face to a superb day out.
