Toyota Soarer 2.5 TT 92-98

Glad to see that back in Japan they are keeping up their tradition for wierd names.....ie Nissan Sylphy.......takes me back to when you could have Nissan Cedric's, Nissan Gloria's etc etc:p

Re the Soarer....a chap down the road from me has had his Soarer for in excess of 10 years and still loves it. Its been absolutely reliable and now has in excess of 150,000 miles on the clock.

One of our friends in Russia has a Mitsubishi Dingo (!) and another Japanese import going around town is an Isuzu Bighorn!!! So, I'm in good company with my Sylphy! :D

And who could forget the Mazda Bongo Friendee......

Quite a lot of those in the UK ... it's a very popular import. I know several people who have one!

Add
Nissan Cedric Gloria (every mod con including door mirror wipers)
Mistubishi Starion Turbo (Brutish, fast 2.6 litre turbo 4,Someone got it wrong at the factory as they meant to name it Stallion)

Isuzu Moo (Vauxhall Frontera with a 3.2 engine)
Toyota Nadia (Another name for Toyota Picnic)
Nissan Fairlady (350Z)
Toyota Harrier (RX300)
Toyota Aristo (Lexus GS300)
Mazda Familia (Familiar ? Mazda 323- though the french had an almost similar name for the Citroen CX Estate)
Toyota Windom (Wisdom but lost in the interpretation)

The list goes on. Not bad cars but since they export a lot of their cars they end up having European sounding names but they get jumbled up in the interpreting, pronunciation etc etc. There was a Toyota Corona but the Corolla survived for about 30 years until recently.

Make sure you don't open the door when you are wearing the seatbelt!

What about the Toyota Emina (Previa), Sounds like a pain in the a**e

Alan

And who can forget the badly named Toyota MR2 in France where they had to drop the '2' from the end otherwise the name mean't something else in French!

What we called the Vauxhall Nova was badged "Corsa" in Europe - "Nova" apparently means no-go in Spanish.

And that Pajero (Mitsubishi) is a slang expression for errr buffing the happy lamp...
