As above.

Additionally, certain fleet buyers service their cars themselves from new and not at the dealer. Rare, but there are some who do that.

It should give some indication of when they last saw the vehicle.

@ 20413 miles the car would have been less than three years old, so it can’t have been a visit for an MOT so it has either had a service or some warranty/recall type of work at that point.

The bad news is that it pretty much indicates that there won’t be any other (MB) service records for the car, so you won’t know what has been done to it over the last ten or so years - if you haven’t got anything to go on, and bearing in mind the age/mileage/value I wouldn’t lose any sleep over it and just start doing the basics and any faults as/when required :)

I did a vehicle check and it’s showing as not been imported but you might be right about Scotland I did purchase it up north, is there anyway I can find out about previous owners?, someone has suggested it might have been a private company who service themselves so wouldn’t pay for the genuine service, is this correct?

Car pre dates Digital Service Book.

Are you saying any services carried out by MB in 2009, 2010, 2011 etc would not have been recorded on the Digital Service Book online because the car was built before 2008? I.e., if a car has been originally issued with a paper service book, it will never go on the DSB?


It may be the case that the W203 never made it to the DSB.
 
Whether or not a car has a DSB has nothing to do with other electronic records being maintained centrally though. I’ve had several cars that predated the DSB but still had service records stored by MB electronically

I had a 2001 CLK55 that MB Brooklands provided a full printout of every recorded dealer visit - for both servicing and repairs/warranty work - even down the the additional items such as recall work. It had never been serviced by Brooklands or any of that dealership group’s network either.

And like one of the other posters, I have had mid-00s cars with electronic service records that MB emailed to me (they just required proof of ownership)

I suspect if the person whom the OP spoke to couldn’t locate the 20k mile visit they probably weren’t looking too hard ;)
 
I changed my e class estate in for a newer c class, not at MB though, i am meticulous with keeping all my paperwork and had 13 years worth of history and bills from new, i quite proudly put a folder of all this on the counter when exchanging the car and the garage said we can't pass that on because it has your address on it and its against the law. I love a bit of paperwork but unless you sell it private its no good anymore.
If you're a total OCD seller, you could go through with a black marker and remove all personal details.
Then you would hand it over to a dealer (and now most traders) and they would say "we can't pass that on because it's against the law", read: we can't be bothered to take any risk or look through or check that we are complying with data privacy laws that we don't understand.

Really, the only people who would put some actual value on that sort of information (not the personal data) are private OCD buyers, and I would personally pay a sensible premium vs other private sellers if I had that provided to me.
By volume, cars typically going into dealers have no demand for this sort of stuff from the end buyers.
Oh look, another 2 year old 1.0 litre VAG/volume city urban hatch saloon crossover whatever...

No one can get your history with no information on the actual vehicle.
I can get you history for a "W212 facelift" but I'm sure it would be no good to you. ;)

If it shows as 8 miles with Mercedes then that is exactly the last time they had it in.
If you have history from the seller what more do you expect?

If I understand correctly, then in your case the historic records were provided by the dealer who originally carried-out the services?

If so, then this will work, assuming the OP can identify the dealer or dealers that may have carried out these services throughout the car's life so far, and contact each one individually.

But I don't think that one dealer will have access to another dealer's systems in respect for information that wasn't recorded on the DSB (unless the two dealers happen to be under the same ownership and share the same computer system).

Brooklands are owned by MB. When Brooklands provided you with the service history that wasn't recorded on the DSB, did it include entries from other dealerships? And if so, were any of them privately-owned dealerships (I.e. not owned by MB)?
 
My car (W212, 2011) has two services missing from the history. My local MB dealer was able to find a reference to one of the services in an online "Event log" and, upon calling that other MB dealer (different dealer group), I was able to confirm that they had serviced the car but, for some unknown reason, they hadn't added it to the DSB. All of the subsequent services that they had performed on the car did get recorded, though. They also were able to confirm a gearbox oil change that, because it wasn't carried out at the same time as a service, never made it into the DSB either.

With used car service records, electronic DSBs have left us in a tricky position - as mentioned above, paper service records now get discarded on owner change but the DSB isn't always as complete as we'd hope.

People would need the exact details for you actual vehicle, reg or VIN number otherwise there is no way for anyone to check.

As mentioned though is Merc. says last history was at very low miles then that will be it.
 
I think you'll need to know who serviced the car.... which may or may not be an MB dealer. You could take a chance and start calling dealers in the area where the car was last registered, if you know where that is.

Just found from the Gov Mot site the last places that Mot the car and all are in England so Scotland wouldn’t hold anything, got a lead from previous owner of who they bought off so trying them if they have records dating back over 2 years, if not think I will service myself and repair/change parts as necessary.

I had this with a previous car.

Ring the original supplying dealer they will likely have serviced it initially.

If the owners details are filled out in the handbook ring / send a letter to them.

Then look the MOTs up online, ring the nearest dealers to them. Then nearest specialists. Then ring the MOT places - people often have them serviced and MOTd at the same time and place later in life.

Managed to almost fill a service book once with stamps by sending it around the dealers to fill out their info.

On checking with them, I was told that it looked like they had omitted to record the service information and update the breakdown cover. OK, they were apologetic and updated everything pronto, including a PO of the service history, but it demonstrated how mistakes can be made which lead to gaps in the service history.

Aye...like the dealership in Bromley who took payment but 'forgot' to register a Service Contract, until I tried to cancel it following an unfortunate serious accident that wrote the car off within 3 weeks of buying it from them.

No wonder you're cynical!
