Travel Pilot or Travel Pilot DX

As you know, I have recently bought an S320 W220 1999 and was given a 2007 Travel Pilot CD when I picked up the car. For one reason or another, I had the Comand head unit replaced, I have searched the forum and cannot find the answere. Can I use a Travel Pilot DX with TMS in my car? Totally confused by the Travel Pilot web site

I'm not sure I fully understand the question, but are you asking if you could use the DX maps? My Comand shows a DX symbol on the screen when starting up - I believe that unless it shows the DX you cannot use DX maps (at least that is what the dealer told me).

As for TMS, that should work provided you have the most recent copy of the nav cds and it specifically mentions that it supports TMS. I understand that older versions would somehow fail to receive the TMS information (broadcast by Classic FM). With an older CD, the TMS indicator appears next to the radio station and you can select the dynamic route guidance. It will then correctly tune to ClassicFM but will always reply with a "no traffic information" message. I was told that the most recent releases fix that problem.

Hi,
I had a 1999 S320 & mine was non dx, it was changed approx sept99 build onwards. If it shows the dx logo at start up you can purchase a dx tmc disc which will work, otherwise non dx system in early w220 models will never support tmc as teleatlas has never made a disc available with tmc data. Hope this helps.
