Travellers taken over Benz World

...Don't want to get killed by a householder, don't burgle their house simples!

Totally agree, but I wonder if the correct legal way would be to put up a sign outside the house stating "Burgle my house at your peril. I reserve the right to fight back, including, if necessary killing you." :)

It's quite bizarre that friends and relatives of the deceased are erecting a shrine at the scene of the burglary. Very telling really. For them crime is obviously a way of life.

Or, maybe, his family loved him?

Perhaps his family should realise that thieving lowlife that break into other peoples houses armed with a screwdriver risk serious injury or death when the owner fights back.
Maybe.

On the other hand my 2 best mates have been in prison, should I bin them off?

One for theft of a speedboat and the other for dealing whizz.
Difficult one tbh.

Not sure I’d want the coke dealer around my house and I don’t know the details of the speedboat theft so I can’t comment.

Mr Vincent, his family and associates are in a different league. I don’t know see how his scummy family can bang on about revenge etc when the dead blokes partner in crime left him for dead in the street.

VIZ magazine got it right!!

A bit off track , but during the 80`s I lived in Tennessee for four years. My boss had a neighbourhood watch meeting , attended by most of his neighbours , and the local sheriff. A patrol car was cruising up and down the street , because during a meeting in a nearby street three houses were burgled whilst the residents were at the meeting. My friend asked the sheriff what he should do if he had an intruder. The sheriff said , "you are perfectly entitled to shoot them". "What if he runs out of the house? ". Without hesitation the sheriff replied "shoot him and drag him back inside the door" . "Won`t the TBI forensics prove that he was shot outside?" . No sir , they won`t look too closely !

It is sad that someone lost their life, but this "wonderful father and brother" was a theiving toe-rag with form for targetting vulnerable old people.

A friend of mine was contacted by the company where his (rather expensive) caravan was in storage, words to the effect 'come and remove your van NOW ! '

Long story short , this well established and honest company had been aske to fit an air-conditioning unit to a caravan which turned out to be owned by travellers. When the job was completed a bunch of them turned up to collect it and during the 'inspection' of the work done (they insisted on a step ladder 'to have a look') one of them produced a sharp instrument ad inflicted a large gash on the caravan roof.

The threat issued was "New roof on my van and I will not pay for the air-con either, if you don't agree we will burn all of the vans to the ground"

The owner did the work and is now probably £10K down. He simply could not take the threat to the hundreds of caravans and motorhomes in storage as not valid. If he had told all of his customers to remove their property his business would have suffered massively, If he had ignored the threat and had many of them burned his business would have suffered massively .

Catch 22 for him and it will surprise no one to hear that the police were hardly going to put a 24hr guard at the gate.

wasnt April 1st nearly 2 weeks ago?

If you read a story on The Rochdale Herald, please take a deep breath before going off the deep end as we probably made it up, apart from the horoscopes, they’re all completely legit (no they aren’t, we make those up too). We don’t spend much time checking facts or corroborating sources because, and we can’t stress this enough, we’re not actually journalists and are making most of it up.

I can understand the sentiments involved but I still think the relatives have been provocative erecting the shrine opposite the scene of the burglary when in fact he died some distance away. The shrine could have gone there. While those residents might also have objected it would have been a little less personal.

I am sure they did, and I don't blame them for it, but I think that the honourable thing to do when a member of your family dies in dishonourable circumstances is to grieve in private.
