Trip to Mercedes Benz / AMG Museum in Germany

Stuttgart to Affalterbach is 3.5 hours drive

Affalterbach to Nurburgring is almost a 4 hour drive

Nurburgring to Stuttgart is a 3.5 hours drive

Would Nurburgring be too much to squeeze in?

beat me to it :D

Just thinking if there are enough of us from the North we could get the overnight Hull Rotterdam ferry on the Wednesday and meet you somewhere in Belgium on route.

I used this the other week and it was £74 return for the 2 of us, good food, good drink and a kip overnight, Just a thought?

Im aiming to leave on Thursday 4th of June and returning on Sunday 7th of June.

shame! this is the week I am planning to circumnavigate the Isle of Islay in a sea kayak ...

Hmmmmm tempting. Trapperjohn has mentined this. Thinks we may argue about which car to use. E220 estate or E300-24 saloon. Views please lol

My in-laws live near Stuttgart (Leonberg) and we drive over there fairly regularly. We do the Belgium / Luxembourg route too, which works well.

We take the Eurotunnel and then just make one fuel stop (in Luxembourg) ... normally driving overnight. It's not a bad run, you go past the Nurburgring and Hockenheim.

For anybody who hasn't seen them, pics from our last visit to the museum here

thanks for the pics Bill, looks like an awesome place! why not join us and make it round 2?

Is it possible to start having names of people who are interested?

This way I can get a pretty good idea how many people I am looking at so therefore I can look into hotels/parking and organise with the museum for our arrival.

Cheers

Given that I've only recently got back, I'm in 2 minds:

The experience might come in handy...

...but I doubt it'll have changed since so it might be a bit of a waste. Plus I've got crash space in Brussels and "frequent traveller" tickets for the tunnel so would end up making my own way there.

Bill, that reminds me, perhaps I should get some of my pics up. However, they're probably not dissimilar to yours, lol!

I'm on a downer this morning Mrs F Informed me at breakfast it is her twin sisters silver wedding anniversary on 6th June and we are already booked. That means I can't make this trip after all. Why do women expect you to remember things like that?

I will keep my eyes on the thread though just in case the dates change.

Sorry can't make it, was well looking forward to it too.

Would anyone prefer to go in beginning of May instead?

fly from stanstead

I done the muesum/factory tour last year.I was going to drive but German wings had a good offer on flights from stanstead i couldnt refuse.

I could do June - open to the idea of flying there too.

Will only go if my brother from another mother (andy27168) can make it too :-)

A little bit of info to keep the cost down if anyone's interested...

I was just pricing up Do/Ca Ferry vs. Le Scuttle for a bike trip this year and while searching for discount deals / promo codes found that Tesco Clubcard vouchers are worth 4 x face value against Le Scuttle fares. Rummaged in the kitchen drawer and found enough of the things to get a virtually free return crossing :)

I know some people would like to fly down as it would be cheaper and less time consuming but on the other hand.. theres nothing like a road trip, a MB Convoy at that too! :)

A few pics and vids for the whole trip, with a bit of a Gumball element to it would surely make it special!
