E class
Hi All,

Looking at Halfords trolley jack for my E class. Would you go 2 ton or 3 ton?
Thanks

I use a 3 tonne for mine. For the sills I use those adapters for the jack pads made from ice hockey pucks (various sites on eBay) but they do squidge a fair amount so I may try to find some more solid ones. One thing to be aware of if jacking up on the central point at the front is how solid the ground is. My jack starting to make an indentation in the tarmac drive so now I just jack up on the sills. Or if desperate I would jack up on the central point and quickly get it on axle stands on the sills.

I hope you're looking at the Advanced jacks, don't go for the cheapo standard ones.
I have the 3 tonne Advanced, only because it's just a bit more than the 2 Tonne and means I'm ready for when we all have to have the electric tanks.

That's the one I'm looking at

It is not just the weight rating but also the physical size and weight of the jack - in particular the width of the jack - the cheaper ones are narrow and lighter which make them easier to move around but they are also much much less stable in use. Take a look at the Clarke jacks in Machinemart as well.

Those Halfords Advanced jacks are big and heavy at 38kg. So nice and stable. Has a decent size saddle too.

Even with a 3 ton car a two ton jack will be fine......you wont ever have the whole weight of the car on it.......usually not much more than a quarter.

Probably only used twice a year also. I use a 2 tonne on my glc coupe , works a charm tbh. Lidl £20

Ok, thanks that's interesting. Odd thing is they don't let you automatically combine the trade card with the payday10 code. Store won't do it either. So trade card price is often higher than non trade card price with the payday10.
Last time I had a big purchase I to contact their customer services to refund me the 10% as the T&Cs didn't say it couldn't be done. I had to be persistent and show them screen shots from the site and their emails where they were promoting the additional discount to trade card holders.

I used blue light and unidays there were 4 in total
How can you put in more than one discount code, when I try it only gives the discount of the last one you enter ?
