Hi

I;ve found out that on Star diagnosis Version 9/05 (september 05) and maybee for a few months before, that on COMAND 2 (i.e the old D2B bus version, NOT the new E-Class onward MOST bus version), you can once again enable TV in Motion.

- This had previously been stopped (by a change to Star) some years ago, so I suspect it is a mistake that it has been re-enabled. One of the tech guys I know recons its been like that for a few months

So, you can ask your dealer (if he is feeling nice) to turn on that again.

Interesting info, but of course you wouldn't want to ask your dealer to break the law on your behalf, would you ;)

(Although having said that, I'm really not sure whether it is an offence to enable it - probably just to watch it whilst in motion, - or be able to watch it)

Some years ago I got my dealer to do this, he made me sign a form, but was happy(ish) to do it. So I guess the offence is to watch the TV whilst in motion.

I think it's actually against the law to have it enabled. Wasn't there a case of a chap in a BMW who crashed and the insurance company got out of paying just because he had this function enabled, not because he was watching anything.

You have to wonder how they knew.

How does that work? Surely if the police find nothing wrong then the insurance company have to cough up? Got a mobile phone, portable computer, passenger (especially a child) or even a can of beer in the boot? Your insurance is invalid because you *could* have been distracted, we're not saying you were but there is always that slim possibility.
