- '21 C300 Coupe, '20 SLC Final Edition, Peugeot 208 (hers!) and a new Ford Kuga in Russia
Had two very different, but equally exciting drives yesterday.
First, an '06 CLS 320 CDI. Oh how I love this car! Everything about it seems just right to me. I was a little surprised to see so much of my S211 inside, but that's not necessarily a critisism...
Extremely comfortble in the front, even for my 6'2, 16st frame and even in the back, although my head just touched the roof, not really too bad considering the stylish, sloping shape (of the car, not my head! ).
Next, a remapped '05 CLK 270 CDI. WOW! is all I can say here! This car belongs to a friend of a friend who wants to move on to an SL500 and is thinking of selling. I've driven a C270 CDI and this was way, way quicker and smoother. In fact I'd say this remapped 270 is faster than a standard CLK 320 CDI that I tried last year (has a really nice off beat rumble too, which I found pleasing = bit like my 5 cylinder S60 T5). I'd forgotten how much I like these W209s and with this remap, the 270 seems like a real wolf in sheeps clothing, which I like. Handling in both cars was (to my way of driving) superb, but the CLK obviously feels a little sportier than the CLS due to it's size. Stlye wise, the CLS wins, but the CLK isn't left that far behind...
Now, add in price and the CLK makes even more sense, especially when viewed as an everyday, fast and fun coupe...
And, to buy the CLS, the S211 would have to go - but to buy the CLK, it could stay..
Remapped CLK 270 CDI is making a good case for itself!
