Hi

I want to buy a tyre inflator, have had a few cheap ones in the past that are just naff, so want to invest in a decent one.

Does anyone have a recommendation?

Thanks

Tan

The Which magazine best buys are:

Ring RAC 750 (mains power only)
Ring RAC 600
Michelin 12260 High Power Tyre Inflator

Costco had one the other day that looked quite good.

I didn't get the name but generally all costco stuff is good stuff so it will be a good one, and the guarantee is always very good.

From memory it was around £20

I bought a Wolf Air Sioux 25 garage compressor nearly a year ago.....very easy.....from memory just over £100 delivered.

Mic

I mostly use a rechargeable one called an 'Air Monster' that I bought a few years back, it's fine for home use. Being self-contained it's dead handy for the kids' bikes etc. too.

Still use my old footdraulic jobby. It's only used to top up after all, and the exercise is probably good for me :)

Have a Michelin electric pump....seems to be reliable and inflates to the correct pressure (has been calibrated)

Had one of those for about a year. Works very well, good value

I read the reviews of the Michelin and Draper foot pumps on Amazon.
Few people appear to have a good word for any of them.
:(

I used foot pumps for 25 years but wouldn't go back to them now. I do have a twin-barrel one in the garage as a last resort.

It's early days in my Draper ownership. So far so good.

I'll try to remember in 6-12 months time to post back how it's holding up.

My reason for going away from an electrical pump is the faffing with the wires. Some cars needed the ignition on for the cigarette lighter to work. Also, even with quite an expensive one I found they made a reasonable amount of noise and took a longish time to increase the psi. The manual foot pump is quickly moved around the car and 10 strokes usually increases the psi by 2-4.

Absolutely, that's why I got a self-contained one ... it has an internal 12V battery. It has a cigarette lighter lead as well, if you want/need to use external power (I never have).
